Thanks, but I've already got an emergency spare ECU from an '80s XJ6 (XJ40) which had the same 3.6l AJ6 engine. Also, I really doubt the ECU from a Ford-era V8 would run my non-cat inline six with a distributor and an oldschool hydraulic auto. 

But do look me up if you're throwing out the supercharged AJ16 engine and box of an X306 XJR / XJR6 or a set of 16inch lattice alloys from an XJ40 3.2 sport.

Still I'm not Sure the motor itself is Ford Era although the X300 was produced with upgraded factory equipment paid for by Ford (as I think it was designed before the sale) 

My understanding is they were sold at a loss so the larger larger V8's were put in later - although the 97 Daimler having a V8 is smaller than a Double Six  V12 that I would come to expect, 

I would call the next generation post 2000's as 'Ford-era' being the Aluminum bodied XJ's (larger & Mondeo like) ,but the naming conventions have always been a bit confusing.

 I Imagine the ECU unit contains the Firing order commands so need to be paired with the same number of cylinders , so I have an ECU for a 97 (Jaguar?) 4.2 V8 that's of no use for my XJ6

 

(The 308 reference was more a guess at the naming convention) , as The Daimler is more a an X300 with a V8 & a facelift)

I have a aj16s engine (no supercharger) on the stand in my garage atm... Sadly I'm probably going to have a play with it and set it up in my xj6 s2.

...those things are good for 1300hp at least if you're curious. Seeing as you need to buy a turbo anyway...

There's a coolant pipe running outside of the block that's notched to clear the supercharger. Make sure to sleeve that so it's full-section again. Even a silicone joiner would do. Stops the rear cylinders overheating.

Well already got a barra manifold as it's about the right port spacing and a turbo. And yeah was going to swap the pipe off a non sc jag x300.

As for power I'm thinking of keeping it "normal" as I'm going to be testing the 6 speed Toyota copy box from a great wall ute 😂

There's a few guys running them behind pretty warm 2Js in Aussie, meant to be rather strong boxes.

Yeah I've heard they are strong boxes. They are based off the Toyota r150 or similar so definitely not a weak design. Also makes bell housing paturns easier to get ahold of. As for the Nissan input spline and Toyota slip yoke. Makes the drive easy over here.

Shame about the gearbag choice. I'm convinced a 5 speed in an XJS behind a 4.0 would be the best modern classic to drive especially long distances. Made even better by the driver get out of the front seat with farm friendly footy shorts giving everybody a what they want to see.

Yeah not a fan of the old American box but never minded the xjs with the aj engine. Tbh if I was making the dream car it would be an xj6c with the aj16 engine. But I don't have 50k to buy the xj6c haha
