Popular Post MichaelJFox Posted February 6, 2018 Popular Post Posted February 6, 2018 Right, well. Story goes I was driving back from up north, checked trademe, saw this Yellow gem and picked it up on my way back home. Gave @GuyWithAviators a call and him and @Shakotom showed up and collected me sitting on it on the side of the road. The lad was like 75 and bought it new, so I have OG purchase docs from CHCH in 1974. It had a bit of a tumble at some point so the front forks are bent, one indicator is smash and the headlight housing is broke. After about 10 mins of Tom touching things in the driveway (and the scooter) it came to life and it dorts around pretty happily. Plan is learn to drive it without crashing into walls (yes, I learned it goes where you look). Reg it, tidy it up and use it for bottle store runs/fun stuff. If anyone has spares I'm looking for the mentioned pieces. 12 Quote
MichaelJFox Posted February 7, 2018 Author Posted February 7, 2018 Took the gas tank out and cleared out the rubble last night. Won't start for shit now, even though its getting fuel and spark. Kicked it for like 20 mins, probably flooded it. Will have another go tonight, may have to remove the carb? Quote
DB8-TypeR Posted February 8, 2018 Posted February 8, 2018 Check the filter in the bottom of the fuel tap. Or just pull fuel line off the carb and make sure fuel is getting that far 1 Quote
MichaelJFox Posted February 9, 2018 Author Posted February 9, 2018 Got there in the end. Whipped the carb out, cleaned that all up etc. Turns out it was the spark leads angle causing weak spark when it was plugged in, and normal spark when I'd test it against the back of the block.. Runs sweet again haha Quote
MichaelJFox Posted February 25, 2018 Author Posted February 25, 2018 Been taking it out for many runs. Did C&C with the Moped lads @GuyWithAviators and @Shakotom etc. 7 Quote
MichaelJFox Posted February 25, 2018 Author Posted February 25, 2018 My rego tags legit say "Honda Chelli" haha. 1 Quote

Mickey Posted February 27, 2018 Posted February 27, 2018 I rescued a yellow one of these from a scrap yard about a year ago. You get any spares with it? or nuffink? I was just gonna improvise for all the missing bits. Who needs a seat when you can strap a tassled cushion to the fuel tank? Quote

They are rather hard to come by. How bad of a state is yours in? You can buy almost all the parts from ebay/webike Quote

DB8-TypeR Posted February 28, 2018 Posted February 28, 2018 Failing that all parts both original and aftermarket are available online for decent prices 1 Quote
MichaelJFox Posted June 28, 2018 Author Posted June 28, 2018 So, haven't updated this in a while. Chucked a new tire on, done a couple tunes. Runs super nice now, starts in two kicks and racked up a bunch of KMs doing rides with the ASSES, Moped NZ and solo round the place. Got a 110cc Lifan and VM44 carb chillin in the garage waiting for a working bee. Quote
Chris.QCR Posted June 29, 2018 Posted June 29, 2018 If you have throttle assembly / cable. Loom.CDI.Coil. this is literally less than 1 hour to remove old motor and fit new one and your riding 1 Quote
MichaelJFox Posted July 1, 2018 Author Posted July 1, 2018 It's one of the 110cc kits from Darren, so comes with Loom/CDI/Carb. I'm a little dubious of the wiring being that quick and easy, but would be super happy to be proved wrong haha. Throttle/Cable I haven't sorted yet, stock can't work? Quote

You can get a generic trademe throttle tube for pit bikes and then get a matching set of grips. Measure ideal length of throttle cable and buy a pitbike one a similar length. I manged to make that work with OG handle bars. Though @Shakotom possibly used the OG slide set up? Not 100 sure. It's an easy work around either way. Quote
Shakotom Posted July 1, 2018 Posted July 1, 2018 Stock can work just needs a custom cable made for length/pull etc im gonna be using OG slide setup with new bars when I get around to it etc 1 Quote
Shakotom Posted July 1, 2018 Posted July 1, 2018 also wiring will be easy just need to figure out how we can adapt to use stock loom. just need to get some time to look at a wiring diagram / @chris r Quote
MichaelJFox Posted July 1, 2018 Author Posted July 1, 2018 I need to get some time to look at @chris r - sounds reasonable. Haha, but yeah I get it - I kinda wanna keep the stock loom in place and have it reversible but I'm probably just making it harder for no real reason. Quote
