Escort crossflow is rear bowl sump and cortina is front bowl . Escort enfine mounts are 35mm and cortina are 55mm. Or vice versa. Can't remember. I have a set of cortina ones you can have for mocking up if you want them.

Oh k so perhaps I have a cortina sump then.

I'm awhile away from mocking it up but thank you for your offer mate.

OK , I figured something was up as the engine oil dipstick is for a 711 engine and never gave me an accurate reading . guess I'll have to sort that too. Any thoughts why you would put a cortina sump on escort engine ?

Those different sized engine mounts are normal, for them up one way and the engine will sit way on the piss, so it’s pretty obvious

those round ones were originally used on the pinto, but have since been used on heaps of setups including crossflows because it’s a simple shape

Oh OK , perhaps I should go to the round shape ones , I have seen them on trade me and at palmside. I guess I'm going to have to mock it up with new mounts and the old sump on and see if it improves the clearance at the steering rack

May be asking a stupid question here , but why is one engine mount shorter than the other , is this normal ??

Have a look at the mounts in the engine bay, you'll see they are not the same length and the uneven length of your steel parts of the engine mounts will even it out.
