64valiant
Erm found out why my speedo stopped working. It seems to have snapped in the kink down by the wheel which wasn't so helpful. But hopefully have a new gear set for it and a new cable this week. The hole fuel pissing down the back wheel I'll have a closer look and see where its leaking from in the light. It's coming from some where in the carb set up. Enough to make a little Leake but not enough for it to piss everywhere like my needle is stuck open. Or is it..... 64valiant
i now have a spare clutch and two gear cables for the vespa, these will live in it while i ride around the country side with it. also got a new speedo cable with a new worm drive that will hopefully correct my speedo for me. off home i go to install the speedo and get this bad boy rolling again. EDIT: all thanks to Christiaan at retro scooter for these over night parts from japan (Auckland) PS support your local scooter lord NZ Scootercare he is still the man!!!!

64valiant
Yea we even added all of the grease. Turns out you googled it and looks like my worm gear is fucked. New one on the way.
waspman
Could be the Veglia (vague liar) speedo, had that issue on one of mine and a little silicone spray into the back of the speedo did the trick
HighLUX
It wouldn't be Italian engineering without some random quirks to keep things interesting

Speedo is perfect at all angles.
Popular Post 64valiant
something like this. friday i done this also replaced this its ment to go here and look something like this, well i used windlace cause i do upholstery and that what i had in stock in the shop now its sealed a lot better. carbie had a bit of sand it o aye idle jet was also blocked. flyingbrick hounded me for a ride so we boosted to beavers place. Via @Truenotchs place cause he had geophys tire tongs, well that was markku coming for a ride now to. me and @Beaver got intimate and used some lube on his rubber. just as we left his place we had our not so scooter affilated speedcock arrive on his push bike (lols) Yowzer btw, he followed us to geophys place in his car...... the speedcocks made a huge gathering and then made it to @Geophys place to proceeded to drink beer and remove his fr50 engine. to install his fr80 engine while he cleaned his shed so we could work in there instead of out side in the dark......@Yowzer got a mean video of me ripping a skid on geophys scooter. the next day i slept in and got hounded from @flyingbrick to go for a ride. so ended up out at @mark105s place, made our way to the coat up a hill and down another hill.... looked like this at the top a little down the hill it looked like this kawhia harbour in the distance. looked good and the weather wast to bad.... well lol. we got to the pub and yea pissing down, seats up to keep them dry. we then headed home marks scooter decided to stop working about 15/20 kms out of kawhia i was lucky enough to know the greatest of gc people living in kawhia, he lent me his ute so i then stormed back to grab 10 5 well well well tree down tree down. dw the guys we had a beer with at the pub where not to far away from helping us thank god. LOL made it home and unloaded the lead and this morning i had Ara arrive and picked up his ute with a gift from us. all in all great weekend. i wore a rubbish bag as a skirt on my way back to Ara house. going to keep them on me from now on. boom so good. now to get back out and do some riding again. also the rear of my engine cover locating pin has managed to brake off. Great. fuck i love riding my little scoot. oh and yowzer got his bike going. this is great. so fucken good.
64valiant
I checked my assorted bolts and cut one down to make the pin for the engine cover. Dont think this one is going to fall off now with my erratic riding and driving if it's on the back of a ute/car for some unknown reason. Had to get the radiator fixed in the Subaru and had to get to an appointment so quickly fixed it and on my way again. I drilled through the panel and plug welded it as previously it didn't have much holding it in. I used a 5mm drill bit to begin with drilling it out and that was the size of the weld/join that was holding the old knob on. Ended up stepping it up to a 7mm size hole to get right in there. Might buy a push bike speedo this week and see if I can get that thing working.

64valiant
Man the speedcocks wanted to go for a burn tonight and I said yes. Slapped my speedo cable down the hole and put a bolt in where it needed to go and off I went. But fuck me. My speedo actually works now! Supper smooth and steady. Seems when I'm doing about 100kms that it sits on the 60mph part. Pretty dam happy with slapping it together
