Update time:

JR80 runs like a champ, have since replaced the starter shaft and lever.

Is up for sale.

The RM85 seized the starter idler to the starter shaft, so looking for a replacement.

Then this happened,  got myself a 04 RM125 project..

Bought it as a non runner with a freshly rebuilt 98 motor in it.. the 04 motor blew a bottom end.

Initial inspections show zero compression, both heads are the same just looking at them, but have different part numbers which state comp dish size.

Swapped them over, sprayed some start ya mother fucker and it ran for a few seconds..

Tomorrow I'll strip the carb etc and go through it all..

I'll rebuild the 04 motor at some stage, but skids come first

Stripped the carb, it was a bit yuk tbh..

It tried to fire.

Checked spark again and swapped plugs, spark is pretty weak.

They've spliced the loom so couldn't just swap cdi and loom over, so swapped the whole stator and cdi with loom.

Fired up, runs but need to sort the idle.

the 125 was a bit of a pooh to start and wouldnt idle, swapped carbs over and no change..

so I decided to pull the head (still dont have a comp tester), piston is new as described..

pulled the barrel, it had been sleeved... put the piston down the barrel, hmmmm so much daylight..

inserted the ring into the barrel, ummmmm wtf, 4mm of ring end gap and I can see daylight passed the sides of the ring..

Got the barrel measured up, then found a piston to suit, had the barrel honed to match the new Wossner piston.

slapped it all back together... can hardly turn it over by hand even without the plug in it, theres so much compression now...nice

reassembled it, gave it a couple of gravy strokes, then the kick in the tits, fired straight up, nice and crisp..

then the float valve starting pissing fuel out..

stripped and found the valve had a nice groove in it.. replaced that and the seat.. runs like a champ, just need to give it a proper tune as its really rich at the moment.

have put 2 heat cycles through it so far

Took the yz into the Eyre mountains today after going to QT to do a site visit.

20km return, about 12 river crossings, plenty of washouts.. good fun.

The 4spd box is shit for trails though with the long 1st (wide ratio)..

Barely got past 2nd most of the way.

Stalled the bitch in a river crossing, think it sucked in a bit of water through the rocker vent hose, oil is now milky.

Drain it tomorrow and checked it's all good.
