RUNAMUCK
Shortening up a bw78 to go under a Val. Current has a 2.92:1 type 75. I've run a 12.5@107. The 3.45:1 AU rear axle should knock a tenth or two off that

Wow that short mate like 20mm wid er each side than an escort diff. And holy shit mate 12.5 is a very respectable time
RUNAMUCK
It ain't slow. It's even better that it was done with such a steep rear axle too. I know another user on this forum who's run quicker on the same ratio. But they had a tacho, and a proper shifter.

So what are you hoping for 12 flat or high 11s
RUNAMUCK
Faster the better. Lower diff ratio Decent shifter Tacho with shift light Double pumper. Car will never be converted to a full drag car. But it'd nice to get a low 12 or better.
Valiant
*I think you can have a 74/75 carrier machined to take the 4 spider bits out of a 78* I don't know to be honest. But from fucking about with diff swaps I'd say, Can you get a Quaife LSD for the Cortina/Atlas diff? Is the width close to a Hilux? What are the chances of finding a 9" that someone has shortened for a Cortina back in the day? In my experience the cheapest option often ends up more expensive. The easiest option mate would be 25 spline xa.b.c.d.e.f 25 spline lsd diff and put the lad in the Aussie cortina housing.. And I'm still on the hunt for
