90% sure there is a Gyro on the junk pile at the Honda bike agent in Huntly.

I was just on the phone to Huntly Honda (customer of mine) and they definitely have one there. Just waiting to hear back from the owner about whether he can sell it.

Ok back to the Green one!

Last week I took my cases into the powder coaters last week

Was told with the amount of masking involved if I wanted they could acid dip them all and I could then take all the bits home to mask up myself and drop it all back, so that's what I did.

Dropped them in Friday last week.

Saturday morning I got a very well packaged chocolate fish from @Vintage Grumble

Looking further into the package I found he's included a few bearings and seals etc too, 15minutes later a second courier arrived with a package from Japan!

Late on the Saturday of the EastCapeEscapades while finishing off @64vauxhall's bourbons I ordered an uprated crank, so I pretty much had everything I needed to build a new engine

My cases were ready to pick up from powder coating this AM

I reckon it looks the part!    Same silver as my front wheel

Opened up the exhaust port on my new cylinder, also widened it a few mm

And cut the skirt to match the case ports, it was fairly nerve racking to bring myself to make the first angle grinder cut on a brand new Malossi cylinder!   But it's for the best!!

It originally covered a large amount of that port!

Should get it mounted up after work tomorrow, first start vid to come!

Dude! You've done such a great job on this. So impressed that you can take it from trash to factory fresh without giving up. I can see this isn't the type of project where you give your licence plate number to the disinterested 17 year old behind the counter at Repco and expect them to hand you some parts...

So I now know that a stock Gyro fuel pump isn't up to the task of feeding my engine.

Bugger.

That'll do it!

Seems to more than keep up with the engine, once the weather clears I'll get into tuning it properly.

Stopped in at Honda in Huntly on Saturday, the Huntly Gyro is fucked as!!

That's the main structural point of the frame.  What remains of the engine is seized solid, every panel is smashed, brake cables have been cut at the rear wheels and it's just a mess.

I still kind of want it though...      Even if it's just for 2 cables swingarm case and a couple bits for Greg's.

Fuel pump works!

I'm fairly confident I haven't hit the power band yet, it's running 6x6g rollers so I'll swap them out for something a bit lighter and see if that wakes it up!
Still just a touch rich I think, that's with a 95mj in there but I don't want to go leaner until after I get the RPM up.

Before I carry on tuning I am going to rework the headpipe on my exhaust, the Malossi cylinder puts the flange a little bit further forward and I'd made the exhaust around a stock cylinder so it was a super tight fit/struggle to get it on this engine!  Also it just fouls the trim panel that sits in front of the engine over bumps etc.
And the thin Chinese pipe flange bends before it seals so I'll cut a new one to suit out of some 5mm plate and zap it on.

Think I'm on the right track with it now, should be fairly rapid for a heavy pig once it's all dialled in!

Stoped in at the painters just before and showed him, he's fucked off it's happened and wants me to bring the part that's gone to shit in and he said he will make 100% sure it's fixed for me!

Says that it's possible Honda used some kinda wax when molding the plastic that's absorbed into it, has a few ideas for a solution though, so that's good!

Of coarse he's "fucked off", he tried to cut corners but has been caught out.

The 'wax in the plastic' thing is total bollocks and a piss weak excuse for shit workmanship.

Took the step panel into the painters this AM, he gave it a blow with the air gun, less than 2 minutes later it was 90% white again,

Bad prep' cutting corners and not using correct products.

"Painters" like this fuck me right off.

Sorry for the rant man.
