nice work.

Im thinking that your dad has done this before.

how did you do the floor? HAve you got a bead roller?

Yeah we traced the outline of the swages onto the steel and rolled it up on a bead roller. He's very good at what he does. This is his car https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/kiwi-made-1927-t-lakes-modified-journey-to-the-end-of-the-road.685236/

I have one of these. Makes spot weld drilling easyish. I've drilled maybe 30 spot welds and I'm still using the first side of the cutter dealie. You get 11 cutters that you can use both sides of, so 22...

You need to center punch or drill a little dimple, or the drill just fucks off and makes scratches. Start slow and don't push hard till it's started cutting, or, the drill just grabs and fucks off.

Yeah I figured out the center punch method but this was a couple years ago now. I've since bought a proper bit and man the difference is fantastic. Unzips panels like a dream.

Wow I really appreciate how you guys have unbuttoned panels to fix things properly.

How old are ya? Your skills put most of us to shame haha

I'm 18 in a month. All I can say is I have a very patient father. Funny you should mention doing things properly. The amount of "repairs" we've found on the car so far is unbelievable. Epoxying steel patches over rust is basically the same as welding in a repair panel isn't it? (sarcasm)

shit yeah. your dad rocks! and dads friends are always the best for projects.

you got a sweet project man. looking forward to seeing it complete and even more so your progress.

prelude seats are pretty comfy seat and sort after in the hot rod world cause of how narrow they are.

super keen to follow this one.

this make me laugh, "Epoxying steel patches over rust is basically the same as welding in a repair panel isn't it?" cheap cars like today's toyotas, just fixed to keep on the road long enough.

There's some classy rust repairs being done here, nice work keep it up. It looks like there are some other interesting projects in the shed with your wagon?

This makes me happy TBH, one of my first cars was an Escort wagon. I had the guards and front panel off, made a new radiator support etc too.

This thing just goes to show how a car that looks pretty okay to start with can turn out to be a rusted out shit box when you start having a proper look. All credit to you for saving a sweet old car that many of us would have given up on as being too rusty. How much of the original shell do you / will you have left after all the repairs?

Also the turbo wheels really suit it.

Awesome work!!

I love the quarter bumpers and little details, but am particularly impressed by the inlet manifold.

Did you notice any issues with shrinkage after casting or porosity using a 3D printed mould? Were you able to grind out the staircase effect in the ports? Also, whats a ballpark cost of casting that size?

Keep up the great work
