Popular Post BLIZZO
welllll i mentioned a wee while ago that i had scored a bargain a CB50 off trademe, only problem was it was in kerikeri, so i didnt pick it up for ages as the owner was happy to store it in his lockup. Anyhow fast forward to last weekend and i had convinced the wife of a lovely long weekend holiday in Paihia before baby no2 arrives, there just happened to be a bike to collect while we were there, so yea, that happened. the dude that was selling it now lives in auckland so his pommy expat old man let us into the storage unit. such an awesome dude, great yarns about moving to auckland and how much they love it here, the brought the CB50 about 10 years ago for his boys to potter around kerikeri on without getting into too much trouble, he was super stoked to see it go to someone that was pining it. so got it home and took a before picture before i rip it to bits in my style i absolutely love the patina, seat is soooooo chunny though. took it for some hoons and even after cleaning the carb its running real rich and fouls the plug after a few mins, WOT is great when its running tho and smacks over 80kph some what easy which is amaze for a 50cc 4 stroke for this vintage. new aliexpress carb on its was should sort it. ordered a whole bunch of parts to make it cool and promised myself i wouldn't touch the bike until the bits arrived. that promise lasted about 3 hours hopefully the frame hoop arrives soon and i can get the seat mounted properly. will eventually wang some 3" tyres on it too which should look quite cool. there is several bikes in my garage now, all partially disassembled and not ride-able. I'm silly 10
Popular Post BLIZZO
Sooooooo another scoot collected by some GCs today, cheers @Threeonthetree and @GuyWithAviators, this one is not for me though. lately my old man has been pining my small bike collection and has hinted he would like one again. He’s almost retired now and have recently just downsized their section considerably so has a bit more time on his hands. He did his apprenticeship as a jockey and worked as a jump jockey from like age 13-29, after a very successful race career a massive spade of 2 dozen concussions and a badly broken back forced his retirement and my grandad got him a job as a meter reader with the power board, and he’s still doing that to this day. his first vehicle with the power board was a blue Suzuki FR70, here’s me cheesing on it taking big bear for a hoon So this early FR50 has been on trademe for a while, both @Snoozin and @Threeonthetree had viewed it and said it was pretty tidy. When Richie said he wasn’t to keen anymore I jumped on it. and tonight those GCs above collected it for me!! Have until September which is the old boys birthday that I will surprise him with it. Will do a little bit of tidying before them, maybe new tyres, get it road legal, general maintenance. Honestly can’t wait to hoon into their cul-de-sac and see the look on his face! 15
Popular Post BLIZZO
over the last 5 or so weeks ive been working at night smashing out a cub build for a workmate of @Sparkles. initially was gunna be wang a lifan at it and some low bars but old mate changed his mind and it transformed into a 100% stripdown for paint and then a pretty involved build. frame turned out to originally be a 90 so needed modifications to mount a lifan engine which then caused a few more issues as the engine sat further forward, so exhaust had to be modified to fit. Not too much custom fab work just little things like handle bar mount and light brackets and a few other bits and bobs, running no battery and lights straight off the rectifier. Wanged some new michelin tyres on it which seem to feel really nice, turned out to look like a damn sweet bike i reckon.

Yea man the exhaust is from Abey in Malaysia, it’s got a pretty small ID on the header (19mm) don’t think I would want it on anything bigger than a 110

Popular Post BLIZZO
Well the young fulla is almost two so probs time to get him on a bike. Always wanted him to having something old and lush and when @UTERUS chucked his z50r up for salwith I grabbed it. Gunna give it a full strip down, rebuild the engine and re spray it in the correct “Blaze red” colour which is orangy red as seen in the photo below. Its a 1982 model, pretty excited to get it restored tbh
Popular Post BLIZZO
I got all horny for the east cape ride the other day so decided to do a bit of work on the ST to get it cape ready. Finally fabbed up a nice solid mount to hold my genuine honda auxiliary fuel can, have just under 5 litres of total capacity now. Was trying to figure out what to do with the OG air cleaner as i want it on there as it looks cool. I have ordered a very upright tight bend inlet manifold to bring the carb forward so i can squeeze a filter sock in there tucked between the frame and the back of the OG air cleaner housing. Plan is to remove the guts of the filter housing and use it to house the CDI, Coil, Reg/Rec etc and maybe a few emergency tools / spare CDI / Coil etc. This think was leaking a bit of oil from when i built the engine and was jumping in and out of second gear. put the oil leak down to a shitty chinese o ring for the oil return so i pulled the engine to bits and sorted that and used a think smear of 3 bond on the gaskets for extra goodness. i hate using RTV but often chinese engines require a bit cos of shit machining. I noticed the shift drum / shift star had a bit too much lateral movement, so i pulled the located bolt that holds it in on the other side of the engine above the sprocket and noticed it didnt have a washer on it which it needs, so re installed with a washer and hopefully that solves the gear jumping issue, really dont want to split the cases again. holy fuck this thing had some boogy when i rode it (just not in second gear obvs) feels much faster than my YX140 in the trombone got that all back together now, just waiting on some New HD clutch springs to turn up few little things to sort for the cape is some baggage, i have a tank bag that mounts to those strops on the frame, and thinking of getting an aliexpress handlebar bag to put on the bars. im going full minimalist on this trip and dont want to wear a backpack. the pine is strong. 11

Popular Post BLIZZO
so i have been smashing a few nights on this CB50 to get it ready for DGR and its finally sorted. I wanged the XL100 engine in it i got from @kdotlowe. the XL inlet manifold wouldnt work with the CB 50 so i made one up and had midge weld it for me I also whacked the 3.25-17" nitto tyres i got on with some new tubes, they juuuuuust sneak in the front forks Made up a new exhaust using the CB50 header which is suprisingly the same diameter as the xl100 header, but i wanted low pipe, and wanged an aliexpress megaphone type muffler on it as you can see below. this got it all going but it wouldnt run well past 3/4 throttle as it had a lean bog obviously from the uncorking of the inlet and the now pretty much straight though exhaust. tried playing with the needle height but it needed a bigger main jet. its a Keihin carb and all the spare keihin jets i had werent the right size but surprisingly the stash of mikuni jets i had from the VM22 on the trombone fit, so i went from a 98 main to a 105 main and it sorted and pulls like a schoolboy now. well thats after i got a new set of points and a new coil / condensor from malcolm at anaconda. the CB50 must have the condensor under the flywheel with the points but the XL needs it up my the coil, so in short it needed a new xl100 6v ac coil. so that got it running good but the clutch was slipping bad, it had new clutch cover bolts and gasket so someone had been in there so i drained the oil as it needed a change and had and went investigating. whoever was in there didnt tighten the clutch springs up all the way so there was the problem, the clutch plates are also pretty dank looking so i swapped the plates from the other XL engine i have that has a bung kickstart shaft. the spare engine also had the tacho drive whereas this one didnt and its actually a super easy swap so i did that and swapped the side covers for the tacho drive hole too. all sorted! so now it runs good and is pretty much finished, i just dont have the headlight on as i need to test that the XL engine isnt overcharging as they are an unregulated AC circuit for the headlight, once i can confirm that isnt going to blow expensive 6v headlight bulbs ill wang it back in and do some wheelies, which it actually does pretty easy with the CB50 gearing on it! all ready for DGR this weekend 13
BLIZZO
have been doing a bit here in there on the ST90 since finishing the CB50 for DGR last weekend. the wiring i did was rushed and hori as shit, and also took up all the room in the frame which ideally i wanted for storage (of like 1 can of beer lel). i also like the look of the stock aircleaner but cant use it as its way to small for this 150cc engine / carb doesnt line up with it or anything. so i gutted it out and turned it into a good space for everything electrical. this is ideal as if anything goes wrong in the electrical department its only 2 screws to open it and i can swap anything out. i now have this space in the frame where i will likely make a little plastic container and hold tools / spares / maybe another little fuel bottle also wanted to hold my phone for gps / filming purposes / wank factor and got this aliexpress ram mount rip off. very good quality actually, except the rubber balls arent as rubbery as my genuine ram mount. now i can pretend to me a 1200GS
BLIZZO
so they wee ST went bloody grouse on the east cape ride, i was surprised at how capable it was at full nang on gravel. used a bit of oil, started leaking a bit of oil out of the base gasket, found a few false neutrals and had the dogs slip in 3rd a couple of times, probs time for an oil change. didnt have any major dramas until about 15km from the finish all the spokes on one side of the rear wheel let go, making for an interesting dismount unsure what to do from here in, the tyre choice for 14" wheels is shit, what i have is really the only dual sport type tyre avail in NZ, and after 700kms its completley fucked anyway, and really i want something wider on the rear, heaps of full knobblies available but not what i want for this bike. i was kinda keen to sell it, but its actually really lush to ride, so im thinking maybe strip the wheels, powdercoat the rims black, new chrome spokes and run 14" wider road / scoot tyres for a supermoto type look, thoughts?????? think ill pull the engine back out now and slam it in the trombone for summer anyway, and do the wheels on the ST when i have the fucks to give, and probably pull the lifan 150 apart and fix the selector forks / dogs and wang than back in it. kinda over spannering too much at the moment.

Plus two more FS50's, a partial drome bike and a bunch of puch scooters in the lockup. Summer 2019 is about getting projects out the door and sold (maybe).
