Popular Post cletus
I spent ages cleaning the 53 years of human hands goop off the wheel, I'm going to stick with the stock wheel I think 27
Popular Post cletus
Started making panels to seal off the boot from the passenger compartment because I've mounted a fuel cell in the boot, I had some bits of 5mm black acrylic cut a while ago. I'll put some rivnuts in so it can be removed

Popular Post cletus
Had a bit of a cockup When I pulled the motor out of the white car and stored it, I put a rag in the dizzy hole to stop shit getting in there Being so long ago, I forgot how big it was I also forgot to remove it when I set the rockers It appears the oil pump drive went om nom nom on the rag . It was quite hard to get out and it was a bit chewed When I got it out there was one bit missing out of the rag that I could not find . I mucked around for ages with the vacuum down the dizzy hole and got a bit of fluff out I deemed getting the rag out to be an essential service so went to work and got my snake camera and grabby thing, found the offending bit of rag hiding in the sump next to the oil pump and did a doctor spec cottonectomy Phew 69 5

Popular Post cletus
Fuel tank stuff Put a bulkhead fitting in for a return in the top And made a spill ring Find pot with correct diameter, luckily I had one set aside for camping, also had correct holesaw in stock, wang some holes in, briefly consider leaving the handle on, shorten pot, drill a hole in a bolt to enable fixing of a ground wire and also a drain hose, done. 44 4
Popular Post cletus
Boot sealed up which was a suckful job but done now Tank and pump in , started on fuel hoses
Popular Post cletus
Fuel hoses done, apart from a breather I borrowed a far superior brake pipe flaring tool from @RX FORD which made life a lot easier, and got all the brake pipes done. I'll get some brake fluid tomorrow and fingers crossed no leaks I wanted to keep the pipes as hidden as possible so are routed a bit different to original, the rf one goes across the firewall above the carpet on the inside of the car, to keep it from being cooked by exhaust. I'd welded some 6mm bolts on before it got painted to mount the pipe to

Popular Post cletus
Made a start on some wiring stuff. I welded some bolts to the inside of the firewall before it was painted and made an aluminum panel that bolts on. Then I can mount all the electrical stuff , relays etc to the panel Painted the floor, I might put some dynamat or something on it. Not sure yet. Ran a cable for the battery to check length and I'll put a 5 core wire front to back for things like fuel pump , alternator wire and potential other things later And Mrs cletus fixed the hoodlining that autoblast managed to rip. Its not great but it will get a new one someday so will do for now 36

Popular Post cletus
Trans cooler mounted, shifter cable set up. Underneath looks pretty busy now but there's no other way of getting everything to work so meh. Ordered some sound deadner stuff for the floor before carpet goes in 35
Popular Post cletus
Put sound deadner stuff in. I bought way too much, I ended up not doing 100% coverage as I read on the internet it doesn't achieve much more plus it sucked so I got a bit lazy. Plus it's fucking heavy so I didn't want to put too much in. These are my excuses anyway. Mounted some gauges Did some wiring. Engine side is now done. Started mucking around with the original loom and got some stuff to work so that's good, because 2018 clint was a bit of a dick and just ripped into it without noting what went where so there's a few mystery wires. Doesn't look too hard to figure out though 37
Popular Post cletus
Doesnt look like I've done much but I've got 80% of the wiring sorted Everything I've wired so far works, and makes no smoke or sparks so I'd call that a success. And all the remaining wiring, I have a plan for, and know what goes where

Popular Post cletus
Set float levels, idle mixture, decided there was no better time than now to get all the piping back on for good. Now goes waaahhhpishhh tested all gears, wheels go round. I think the cooling might be borderline, it gets pretty warm (195f) and twin 10" fans was as big as I can fit. I'll see what it's like once it's mobile and can be driven in traffic, I might have to get some better quality fans 48
Popular Post cletus
Some more boxes ticked, wiring is all done, carpet, shifter, seats, all in for good now. this car has the upper belt anchorage in the roof so it was very uncomfortable with a static belt as it rubbed your neck/ear, which got annoying and I'd loosen the belt which meant it wouldn't work properly I fitted a new anchorage for a retractor and that meant I could use lap diagonal retractable belts with a dropper off the roof so the belt is in the right position With the seats, belts, and shifter position, it is the most comfortable car I own now, which is kinda funny, because it will likely be massively hungus on the pertols so won't be driven long distances...
Popular Post cletus
It drives. Got a few bugs to work out though. The main one is it gets hot, and can't cool itself down. This might be a bit of a prick to sort out as there's no room left I think it has more boost than it should do Brakes are a bit spongy, might need next size up master cyl, might improve once they bed in a bit Seats are a bit low Needs something to stop the pinion angle changing under accel, driveshaft just knocked the floor slightly 59 5
