That’s a bad photo of a good headlining.

lewis at tinwald canvas & upholstery had a pattern from a previous job so knocked it out for me. Standard as black, with all pillar pieces included

finally did the shock bushes commented on the last warrant sheet.

they look like they were cut on angles in the dark with a hacksaw! 
bit ashamed I didn’t notice when I did the diff swap. Or did i conveniently note it and forget?

Had been planning to use labour weekend to get amongst this again.

needs:

- fix cracked bog in C pillar

- Fit new headlining

- fit stainless trim to screen rubbers and finally seal them in. 

- inspect rust bubbles in lower A pillar jambs and rear wheel arch

- paint jambs and inside boot lid 

Can see where I buzzed back the bog on pillar. Begrudgingly Went and got a tin of newtech to use as lead replacement. I hate the shit but it’s the norm.

then etched, bogged and primed. Started to mask it up.

went pretty well in all. Got it smooth enough to not want to bother cutting and polishing.

again, it looks exactly the same as before so these pics are just to show it happened, lol.

got the stainless trims into the rubbers too, The front bottom piece was a total cunt, had to get the mrs to help.. Longest of them all and curved each end so it kept trying to pop out when it came under tension. And the force needed to push it in was more than needed to fold it in half in an instant so it was a nail biter. 

Simpson gave me an original boot mat, one side is yuck but overall tidy. I recently ditched the MDF sheet I was using because it rattled so it’s a welcome addition.

Last weekend it went back together and it’s good to be back dailying.
The roof lining took so long + all my patience, doing a part then glueing clamping and leaving it..
 Sealing the screens in was pretty frustrating, rubbers went a bit wonky in places/inconsistent shape/mess etc.

New owner speaking. Picked her up in Rotorua from the owner who bought from Mr.Mk1. 
Car was running pretty rough, had been out in the weather so rust was seeping back. Will be updating as we go. 

Going to get the a15 running strong, rework the suspension, wheels and tyres and otherwise get the car back into good daily condition. We can then make an assessment on the rust and next steps.

Few updates over the last 6 months. Good news is it still seems to be a strong engine and box. Less so the brakes. 

Found a set of JDM Enkei MESH wheels with the original center caps, now running 14x6 +15. Little bit of touching with the fronts at full lock but not too bad.

We then pulled most of the accessories apart in the engine bay and rebuilt the alternator and surrounding wiring. Freshened up the belt, wrapped the headers and slapped a couple of new webbers on the side. Gave it a full tune, reset the distributor, jetts etc. 

We also managed to find a datsun NOS race steering wheel and some of the internal gauges/centre console, once weve done the panel and paint we will start on the interior and bring in new rubbers/dash etc. 
Most of the work and tune done by Bad Penny in Hamilton. 

Next up we will hit the body, take care of a small amount of rust and give it a full panel and paint. Then move on to the interior, new dash surround, front seats need recovering and trims,/doorhandles,/cards,/etc. Carpet is probably good but we will see.
