Bruce 1001
Hello. A friend of mine has a 4G32 motor that was put into his forklift a few years ago. Apparently it has never run right. I have just done leads (one of which had worn through the plastic casing), points, coil and condenser. Plugs, cap and rotor look OK. Won't rev at all when cold. Will rev when warm as long as you build the revs up slowly - i.e. if you put your foot down to give it a quick brrm brrm it splutters like mad. Sounds like big fuel miss to me. It has a twin barrel Aisan carb on it with a vacuum secondary. I have some photos of it but can't upload them here. Only numbers on it are '4H 8' which apparently is a date rather than a model code. Question time. Is it the correct carb for the engine? Anything particular I should know about them? It has a couple of vacuum lines that have been blocked off - should any of these be connected to open or manifold vacuum? Anyone know who carries carb kits for these things? Any advice in general? Thanks. Any help greatly appreciated. Bruce
Frosty
Check the fuel filter, if that doesn't work it could be the pump or a blocked main jet. All are likely if it's sat for a while.
Muncie
Was probably run on gas at some stage carb will likely be full of crap and every gasket will be dry as toast. If you can find a second hand carb would most likely help a lot.
RUNAMUCK
I'd say the accelerator pump isn't working.
