How did it behave? Mine was under steery but probably driver fault more than anything

Felt understeery under acceleration, but pretty well balanced under brakes/turning. Next event will be better with more of an understanding of lines etc.

Sounds similar to mine then. Yeah seat time is good and you can only get better

Just need a turbo now!

Turbo will put me in the big boys class - little bro beat me by 7 seconds, so seat time is definitely the key compared to power at the moment! Beagle was genuinely shockingly good (I was expecting a tail end effort)looking forward to seeing the results when they come out.

That's a fair difference in times! Nothing like a bit of competition to help as well. Can you squeeze in production class with the dohc zc?

The classes are A 0 -1400 B 1400-1800 C 1800-2500(ish?) D Above. With Turbo being a 1.7x multiplier. No production class.

I reckon next time you should drive your brothers car, he will have been giving it death because its not his.....

looked like a lot of fun though, that Escort sounded awesome!

I like that as an excuse - to be honest I just wasn't smooth enough - some of my lines were terrible, walked the course afterwards and discussed what we were doing differently. The plan is that the 180SX will be the tarmac car. New engine and gearbox arriving this week for the 180

Fuck that looks like fun! I really need to get amongst it!

So much fun, and really any car would be sweet - your sump height would definitely be the scariest thing. A grass event (or tarmac event for that matter) could double as an OS meet.

  • 1 month later...

Another testing station WOF today, didn't charge me for a reinspection despite being 5 weeks after the initial check- has had a 2" exhaust fitted. @chris r spotted some headers on TM, but I'm a little sketchy about changing much as it sounds pretty lovely right now.

On the hunt for some +50mmish rally adjusties so I can get/justify cert. I've made a habit of unplugging the ABS when a solenoid intermittently sticks, which in hindsight is probably the equivalent of driving around without insurance. Chris has sorted me non-ABS brake lines from a pick-a-part mission so it shouldn't be too much of an issue to finish the conversion.

  • 1 year later...

So another year, another 2 WOFs and the Beagle is still going well, probably less economical than it should be (~10L/100km) but not really bothered.

My pile of parts will be delved into once I get the family wagon back from Alex

Stainless 4>2>1 Extractors

Koni Adjustable Shocks

S2000 Seats

Energy Bush Set

It'll be then ready for Cert in time for next WOF - or that's the theory.

Going racing again tomorrow, just have to beat a student in an RS200 Altezza to make the day a success...

Cool vid!

I really like the autocross layout too - tightening esses to the end of the paddock, expanding esses on the way back. Perfect paddock for it too.

It's the same paddock as Marahau Nats! Cool to have the drone footage so you  can see the overall layout. I had an issue with gearing, the DOHC ZC doesn't really have the torque to pull second gear (at the speed I'm travelling!) at the exit of each of the esses as my lines aren't clean enough. A better driver would be getting pretty close to the event winners I reckon. The Starlet in second place is still K series powered - that guy can drive!

I think you need some rally tyres.... I happen to have some.

But guessing beagle has 14s

Beagle has 15s...I would be super keen on a second set of wheels, what size are they? I'm pretty sure even 13s would clear the huge brakes the Beagle has.

Yeah 13s. Excellent tread.

Will have to see if a 13" wheel has any issues, have any in stock to check clearances? Even an Imp wheel should give me an indication as they're 4x4" instead of 4x100 eh? If I can make it work I'll definitely take them!
