Muncie Posted April 18 Author Posted April 18 Unsure on the black colour of wheels im sure will grow on me i do like how its gone back to looking like a sleeper again though. The brakes stand out nicely and other stuff like the stainless downpipe hidden in behind the wheel tub also stands out which is cool I did all that stuff in stainless because I'm a bit of a poser and wanted shiny stuff on the rough looking shell. Current work I need to do, get this Mafless tune finished! Fuck my life annoyingly it works well enough to run but its calculated airflow is back to front at idle it basically thinks its flat out fuel wise and runs rich enough to spit raw fuel out exhaust. I can go back to MAF but that limits me to 9psi which is where im at now...... but the MAF is now playing up like theres a broken wire and engine just dies. Seats just need the Air bag wiring repinned into the system i need to go to pick a part and grab some plugs off a donor. Theyre bloody marvelous to sit in! Fit the bonnet scoop to let the heat out. I need to do driveshaft hoops and that should have me cert ready. Quote
jakesae101 Posted April 19 Posted April 19 Did you check if the impedance was the same as I was under the impression they were different between the 2 generations of seats. Quote
Muncie Posted April 19 Author Posted April 19 Haven't checked yet but do have the tool for programming SRS if it isnt plug and play i can probably change it in the controller to accept it. Internet rumour says same up till vf I'll believe it once I poke around with multimeter or after they're pinned in the SRS DTC Clears. Quote
Muncie Posted April 21 Author Posted April 21 So side project update, ive done an operating system swap in my LS P59 PCM so it will now run on my cable throttle body fine, then patched it to run BOOST OS 5.2..... then setup everything in Tunerpro to run my engine eg: number of cylinders fuel injectors then my eyes went square and I decided to call it for night as was quite a lot of pissing around using command prompts and bloody everything! I now have a base setup and will continue setting things up this week. So can keep thinking about wiring it and adding in the LS coils (and finding some ls coils anyones got any??) Quote
Muncie Posted April 21 Author Posted April 21 Heres a screen shot of some of the Boost OS patch features Quote
Muncie Posted April 25 Author Posted April 25 Back to tuning this weapon ive been fighting MAF DTC since I put the new engine in which has left me stranded a few times I always made it home but it knocked my confidence about driving the car. Today while poke around with multimeter the plug itself the connectors had lost all the tension so I dismantled the plug managed to retension the connectors and the issue went away, THANK FUCK FOR THAT! yes im running the MAF again but I managed to drive it for longest trip in ages. I then did some logging with wideband found fuel is pretty good everywhere except toward idle it was rich by 30% I removed 19% and the car is so much happier previously my clothes would stink of petrol if I stood near it at idle. I'll leave at that for now and revisit after a bit more driving. New wheels fit with a tiny spacer in rear if I trim some plastic liner out I could probably ditch spacer all together yay Progress! At 12 psi its pretty bloody rapid too! Quote
Muncie Posted April 25 Author Posted April 25 The black wheels are growing on me makes red springs, exhaust and brakes stand out. Ill organize some better tyres for front rears are ok to use. 2 Quote
Muncie Posted April 27 Author Posted April 27 Just ordered some tyres for front and the correct wheel nuts so I dont have to dick around at cert and wof time. Next job get SRS back online and go for a warrant and start driving shit out of it get some k's on the motor ive got a good tune in it now at 12psi and could likely run more but will wait till ive got first oil change in it 1000-1500ks should do it. Run in oil has been dropped and looked as expected so im on synthetic now. Bricked the PCM I was testing my MAFLESS tune on so thats on backburner for now till I get another or un brick the 4 I have. The LS pcm project is at the point of working out triggering and wiring, the base tune and calibration are written. I'll be picking some brains internationally about how those parts are done. I sold a LS pcm ive been practicing on so thats been gobbled up already by the new tyres. Quote
Muncie Posted April 27 Author Posted April 27 Here's a pic of the P59 LS PCM having a chat to my laptop Quote
Muncie Posted May 10 Author Posted May 10 Made matching v6 pcm programming box its cool I like it. Currently in MAP tuning purgatory this makes things much easier go for a drive log everything make changes in Tunerpro flash on bench to a spare PCM slap it in and go for another drive rinse repeat! 1 Quote
Muncie Posted May 10 Author Posted May 10 Time to Rip the cars face off! The Bumper the support all of the turbo system and put it back to WOF spec. Bought some new tyres for front which I'll get fitted up very soon. May need to go back to stock seats will see if I can resolve the VE airbag seats In VY Car problems ive created for myself. Seeing as fronts coming off may as well fit new headlights as the stock ones are terrible. Quote

(not big ends again) like a dip into the 13's early in the day would be great ive ring gapped this thing as per high boost specs so could probably blow 30psi down its neck and live if I wanted too. it has proper ignition timing this time last time I ran it i had way to much timing in it so was just pegged on the knock retard because I got shit advice from the internet and my laptop wouldn't connect at track to log so I just sent it and it lived to fight another 9 months then shat bed weeks out from drag day. Hopefully i can get a MAFLESS tune sorted by end of year should free up inlet a fair bit. 2 Quote
vk327 Posted May 14 Posted May 14 not sure how far you've got with the LS1 pcm, Iv just been diging into a back burner project Iv been meaning to get to for a while of LS1 pcm on 304 v8, the PCM does defiantly need a specific OS for the hard coded controller setup (input and output assignment) Im using an express van (distributed 5.0vortec) OS with segment swaps to achieve what i need to for single coil low res trigger and right functions fans etc. I suspect you'll need to use a v6 specific OS with some segment swapping so the usual V8 DBW to DBC os (what OS have you setup now?) on the P59 likely wont work as the low res will still be expecting 4x pulse for trigger and the outputs will be setup for v8 firing, a v6 specific OS will be able to run low res 3x or may even take the 18x CAS signal I have seen mention of using the P01 pcm ign 1 driver to control the DFI EST timing input, im not sure if any of the V6s ran the p59 PCM, Note the OS from a P01 cannot be run on P59 it will hard brick the controller (unrecoverable). Ok, so have actually got decently far into the P59 Set up and its calibration ive decided to run the LS Style tone ring and cam sync did an OS swap to 12587603 then patched to BOOST OS 5.2 which opens up a shit load of extra functions wideband boost control etc. Changed cylinder volume in xdf and turned off unused injectors and coils this been the done thing according to the few people who have done it. The OS: 12587603 is the one thats recommended for BOOST OS hence that choice its cable throttle and will support iac tps etc Just paused at present while I do some more research. Ive joined the paid Patreon of the dude that built the custom operating system whose running Turbo_v6 on pcmhacking.net and YouTube pretty sure hes sick of all my questions. (Im paying so hes gotta spill beans) I also managed to hack the stock DELCO PCM to run MAP fed through the existing defunct EGR I/O Just playing with that now its got its on set of tuning quirks but gives me the headroom I need over MAF. 1 Quote
Muncie Posted May 15 Author Posted May 15 Just pulling some logs on some road tuning at same wastegate pressure wide open throttle at drag day I peaked airflow at 900mg/cyl im now at 1200mg/cyl engine so much happier and basically wants more. So the new more efficient Pulsar turbo from gen 1 GTX3584RS to gen 3 PSR3584RS and ported heads have really helped it make power. Should be around 230-240kw at wheels as it stands its ring gapped for a decent amount of boost so I can safely turn it up past 12-13psi psi that I ran on original Engine to mid 20s psi of boost. 1 Quote
Muncie Posted May 16 Author Posted May 16 The headlights have been a bit marginal since well it left factory if you fit LED's their amazing but get you pulled over. So here's my attempt at something in between for a 23 year old car. I scored these HSV headlights for next to nothing foggy and quite yellow turns out they had been clear coated at some stage and that had failed, I scraped that all off and hit them with 180 grit till no sign of yellow or stone chips remains ill start working down to 2000-3000 grit buff them within an inch of their life and re clear them and should have something that looks pretty good. I'll fill the park light notch in bumper when I paint. Getting there my daughter used all my sandpaper though on her car...... Quote

I got a cheap acetone vaporizer headlight restoration kit and it worked really well on the Subaru headlights, did all the sanding then used that to clear them up 2 Quote

Acetone does work wonders though! May work with my old ones so will give those a going over before I sell or store them. 1 Quote
