Muncie Posted May 16 Author Posted May 16 What they started out like, one thats sanded was in far worse condition than this one but can see yellowish tint and clowdiness. Quote
Muncie Posted May 23 Author Posted May 23 One down so before and after Restored shit one next to unrestored good one. Quote
Muncie Posted May 23 Author Posted May 23 And both done. Razor blade to scrape yellow off 180 grit to get last of yellow off it was like these were stored on a chain smokers bookshelf. Then 400 grit through to 2000 in stages followed by autosoll then light cut car polish and wax. I'll clear these when paint the car, their not new condition but very tidy for age and beats paying a grand for a new set. 4 Quote
Muncie Posted May 24 Author Posted May 24 WOF time lets undo all my hard work. And fit the new headlights. All the turbo related stuff on front of car off for a polish up replacement uncut crash bar to keep everyone happy. Quote
Muncie Posted May 24 Author Posted May 24 Looks like it has 2 black eyes and no teeth. Just need to pull turbo not a huge job but ran out of motivation this afternoon. Bit of thinking to do about an airbag light i have ive got the bits to sort it though I think and she's good to go. All the dragday prep sorted everything else for wof. 3 Quote
Muncie Posted May 31 Author Posted May 31 Got under this thing backed off all the diff mount bolts hooked a lever hoist to a body mount and other to the diff cradle cranked it up as best I could manage and dragged diff over 10mm diff still isnt dead centre but now my back left wheel doesn't rub on inside tub. So i can now drive on the new wheels. Wasn't a problem till i fitted new tyres that have a rim protector type edge on them that sticks out quite a bit. When I cert I'll run 20mm spacers out back heaps of guard room to outside so will look a bit more flush as well. Back to Warrant o Fitness mode now turbos off non turbo tune flashed in which im trying to get behaviour near perfect before I switch to MAP so ive got something to base off. Turbo part of tune can basically be copy pasted in as it is happy on boost wideband is happy and conservative timing will get it down track with some room to optimize. If anyone has ideas on how I can get the airbag light to turn off using resistors and capacitors to get everything happy message me, i can read everything clear the codes but how the SRS works isnt quite what I was expecting and fighting me a bit. Stock seats is my backup plan. 1 Quote
Muncie Posted June 6 Author Posted June 6 Ok, finally after 3 years figured out why I have shitty IAC control out my genuine IAC valves (3 of the fucking things) turns out the all had undersized pintles so they weren't actual sitting on the seat just moving in and out of bore. For first time it now starts without throttle. Such a small thing has been an absolute prick to solve. Its feels weird the car having this control its basically like ive been driving it carbied all this time. Zero feedback to pcm its been me feathering throttle to make it do stuff. 1 Quote
fletch Posted June 6 Posted June 6 You need a little timer for the airbag light. They are supposed to stay on for 5 seconds or something. You could solder one up out of shit from some online plans and tape it into the loom/back of cluster Quote

Its fixable but it involves coding or a small circuit to balance out the resistance and capacitance the SRS system expects im getting there with it just a bit more work then I was expecting seeing as others have just plugged seats in with nothing extra needed. Pretty sure when I go for a cert they'll spot anything thats not 100%. I'll throw some original vy seats in for a wof. Quote
Muncie Posted June 9 Author Posted June 9 Ok, got my cert solution for the seats, I need to get the SRS sensor from an Executive as they dont have side airbags (you had to pay for that safety feature) ive already reprogrammed the dash to suit that then it wont be looking for those airbags. Hopefully thats as easy as it sounds the module is dirt cheap as no one wants them and enough of these are dead after been skid pigs im sure I'll find one easy as. 4 Quote
Muncie Posted Saturday at 10:31 Author Posted Saturday at 10:31 Somehow ive got this thing running Mafless. The lads on pcmhacking.net must have their heads cocked sideways going Huh?? As apparently ive done it weird Surprisingly its working really well however im not tuning using VE which apparently makes no sense, go figure whatever it runs it drives and is getting better and better. 1 Quote
