With fuel prices absolutely cooked these things are tucked up for a bit both good but only things getting done are software based or dont require movement.

New rabbit hole officially entered, ive purchased all the gear to work on LS PCM's goal been the P59 has way more memory 1mb instead the 128kb ive been pushing to its limits running the v6 now.

Ls stuff is really well supported now its OBD 2 so now ive got everything to read and Write them I could do some stuff for people.

What ive done tonight, pulled the Binary file using PCM Hammer and then reading it in Universal patcher found the matching XDF for the operating system and started making the changes to get it running the v6.

From there I'll get it running the engine and then upgrade to BOOST OS V5 and have all the cool shit like launch control drive by wire boost control dual wideband control flex fuel and heaps of shit I haven't fully grasped.

And it'll still talk over CAN to the car.

I need a triggering system yet coil packs some more wiring but I can do all this without breaking the car.

be wary of the P59  ecm in VZ format its a DBW only operating system,  so it will not read the TPS or drive the IAC, it will need an operating system swap  to  a pontiac gto  cable throttle &  4L auto control OS before it will be any  use, i would recommend staying away from trying to  get the vz DBW working in this sort of application as the overall torque vs correlation  airflow model will be wrong and plague you  with limp mode issues (also  VZ throttle pedals & tac modules are common failures and expensive as NLA

you could also have a look at the 4.3 gm v6 platform operating systems as well im not sure whats compatible or changes there, they usually run same OS as v8 just wired different, I work on these in HP tuners  which is far easier user interface & datalogging (can realtime tune for a few parameters)  than PCM hammer LS droid or tuner pro,  HP tuners also  have boost patched modified OS well defined in both MAF SD & blended

I was hoping you'd read this, thats really useful information as far as using Tunerpro ive been using it for years now I dont love it but its familiar at least.

This is all learning at this stage im making it up as I go and read as I go any information is appreciated as there's not that much out there for this kind of application.

Keeps me from needing petrol.

Got hold of operating system 12587603 has all the cable throttle iac setup.

Im keen for drive by wire but if its not going to work properly or has antique NLA parts it probably isn't viable.

My whole reason for getting into this is because of NLA and unreliable parts im on my 5th crank angle sensor 4th DFI module and have used up all of my spares i saved up. Picking up some extra I/O and other features is another bonus.

You can now get an adapter to run the more modern ve pedals out of aussie, I run a 6l 92mm tb on my 5.7 with an xlink module out of Canada and haven't had any issues after it was tuned.

Thats good to know, I'll be starting up using the factory ecotec throttle body IACV and Tps but I'll leave all the drive wire stuff in the loom so I can experiment with it, if it doesn't co operate I can go back to cable. First thing make it run.

Dont know why im finding this stuff so rewarding at moment its just hitting that spot in my brain car stuff hasn't for a long time. Not super expensive just takes lots of time trial and error and thinking.

Flashed my first LS PCM today decided to Sell my P01 So to make it little more desirable i switched off the antitheft system (VATS) as its known, so should be sweet for a project car for someone.

No other tuning changes as I cant verify those without a car.

As a learning thing though shit its quicker then flashing an ecotec PCM those take a few nervous minutes.

My aliexpress bench flash tool did job as is, ive got to modify it though was cheapest way to get connectors i needed it needs some fuses switches and a proper laboratory power supply added to make it all "proper" expensive PCM'S so worth the effort to do properly.

And........... late night shopping gets me again.

Full VE Clubsport upholstery set quite likely the 2nd filthiest set of seats ive ever seen, under the yuck though they are really great condition near no bolster wear on drivers seat foams nice and springy.

This was after a wipe with a wet cloth car they're out of must have sat around and got bit moldy but it cleans off.

I'll clean them up and think about how to fit them, fitting vy rails is apparently easiest way.

One of those Bissell car seat shampooing rigs (with the right cleaning solution) can work miracles on dirty seats.

It's sooooo satisfying watching the filth being hoovered out of the fabric. (And equally as disgusting tbh)

I will say be prepared for it to smell a bit while its drying out, spesh if its in a enclosed space.
My ute got pretty ruckus, couple days in the sun with the windows down sorted it though.

Got recommended this stuff, have used it at training centre to get grot out of carpets, 5 minutes wiping seats down with this has removed a lot of shit i Will probably hire a commercial one and go hard on them and put them up.on mezzanine floor at work to dry.

Passengers seat is in drivers has wiring and actuators to contend with so thats a tomorrow job, but only had to dremel about 1mm out of 2 holes and the rails bolted on.

Seats sit nice and low in car and bolsters wrap around nicely. airbags have same plugs so im hoping its a plug and play thing or I'll have to download the the GM tool again and reprogram the allowed resistance of the airbag to make controller happy.

Still need a huge clean but ill yank back out for that.

Back seat is miles out my plan there was to just put the skins on a spare set of VY Seats.

Another bonus is these seats would be 20kg lighter id say, manual runners so less complications and wiring drivers seat has some electric actuators I'll check those out in morning see what they do.

The Calais stuff is a good upgrade for Zach as he's happy been low slow and comfortable, but I intend to chuck this car around eventually hence brakes seats and some power i think it'll hold its own.

New seats are in, pretty much bolt in there's a little bit of wiring to do one plug is different 3 wire instead of 2 however that extra wire is an earth Instead of the airbag grounding to seat frame they took it back to the chassis so thats easy I'll get some new plugs and make those work.

They cleaned up pretty well 3 hours with a rug doctor though! Still a bit damp in photos so look patchy.

Really nice to sit in. Really low car feels sporty and I struggle to roll my 44 year old broken carcus out of it now so its about right, 3 feet lower than my Daily Hilux.

Just rolling some cloth vy rear seats for now till I decide how to fit the VE Stuff.

In the interest of turd polishing ive bought more HSV genuine parts........

My BMW x5 rims despite fitting fairly well aren't quite up to cert the centre bores on front rims have been hogged out with what project binky would describe as an "Angry End" on a power drill i thought about getting them refurbished and new locating rings made but that would just give me very heavy bmw wheels on a Holden at end of day. (And the Mrs thinks their ugly)

So this been the better option been watching on trademe i snapped up once they got to a reasonable price.

Still allows me to run my 275 rear tyres and 245s on front without butchering the wheel alignment had to go very weak on front camber for rim to strut to guard clearance on x5 rims due to been 9" it was bees dick clearance everywhere.

This will make getting my warrant easier pre cert time. My WOF guy ain't lenient and tipped his head sideways and went No when I asked about the slammed Hella flush fitment I currently have.

2 wheels on to gauge fitment, Fronts are perfect with a 245 35 19 no spacers clearance everywhere, Rears....... they fit but offset is weak tyres aren't right a 15-20mm spacer would fix it, think i prefer the 275 30 19 on back these are a 35 profile
