Spark plugs ive fitted are just plain copper plugs which according to the Turbo community are a bit more forgiving when running boost at higher levels than stock giving a fatter spark across the bigger electrode surface.

This bigger electrode may be the issue in my head as it probably takes more energy to make that spark jump which my coils could be struggling to produce over 4000rpm. I'm only dropping 1 or 2 cylinders my bet I've got a sad coil so I'll try my box of spares before committing to ripping plugs out again if the plugs come out ill go straight back to iridium as they were working fine even with been torched and a bit fouled. Hope that's the problem as I'm getting short on time.

Oil change and coolant to go in as well. Hope that's all.

Tried some new coils and managed to drop 2 cylinders at idle, FUCK THESE SPARK PLUGS!!

So rolled back all the other nights work and stuck the old Iridium's back in after filing the strap into a better shape as they had to be bent a fair bit to get down to 0.6mm.

Also found while in there the v band for crossover pipe was quite loose so at least I fixed that.......

Thank fuck its running mint again I'll just do the oil change now and coolant and leave it alone.

I didn’t want to say earlier because I’m not a spark plug whizz, but I’ve been told before copper plugs aren’t as great as platinum/iridium plugs when it comes to COP/CP ignition. I’m not sure exactly why. You may get better results from experimenting with iridium plugs of a different heat range.

Have read the same, the thicker electrodes of copper (actually nickel on the business end, even iridiums have a copper core) erode much faster with the high voltages in modern ignition systems, leading to misfire and other issues.

Great for an older none boosted engine running a single coil and leads from a dizzy etc.

I had 2 fresh sets of NGK copper nickel plugs die on the dyno in my old Subaru, anything over 10psi boost and they'd start breaking up and misfiring, swapped them out for a set of platinums from memory and then it was mint even pushing 22psi into it.

I don't think looking at the picture of the plug you showed that you need to go to a colder range plug

Got any pics of the other plugs?

Engines not running any hotter yeah?

Other then looking fouled from running rich and the gap opening up they look ok

Gap opening up over time is normal

If it was me and your comfortable that your tunes now sorted as in not super rich. I'd either fully clean the ones up you've got so they look as new as possible and see if they foul/look rich

Or put a new set in and do the same

Fouling can also indicate your running too cold a plug, if your running the factory heat range

Which I think is a 6 on both the ecotechs and the L67 supercharged

I wouldn't go to a hotter plug with a turbo as that risks pre ignition and melting things.

I'd be diagnosing why your not getting Cylinder temps high enough for factory plugs (more timing/leaning it out may help) or you might just need to load it up more and drive it in anger haha

Also not a spark plug expert

I trusted the internet..... I should of Come straight to oldschool.co.nz where people don't waste their time posting shit advice

I'll pull another 5% out of the base injector rate see how that cleans things up its gotten much richer since new fuel pump went in

Give her a rev just before you shut her down to clean the plugs out m8

@tortronRev limit is to 4000rpm for such things

Have just given it the service of its second lifetime running real nice for 1/2 a million clicks.

Fresh oil went 20/50 penrite synthetic and 1/4 bottle of moreys still has a lifter tick at idle it goes away by 1500rpm so I'll pretend not to hear it, Flushed the cooling system and filled it up with Coolant so when the crank falls out the guys at the track will say jeeze looks like it "was" looked after while sweeping up my engine.

Of fucking course this has has turned in to a cluster fuck has been off 3 time and is still leaking from this flimsy fucking gasket that keeps falling out and getting jammed.

Oh and now ive dropped a bolt which has found its way behind the harmonic balancer..... guess I'm calling in sick tomorrow.

I've given up on the gasket its fucked now anyway and special order from basically anywhere that sells such things so scraped the mating surfaces till they are shiny and am resorting to only grey gasket schmoo. It's on sitting properly and has bolts hand tight I'll nip up in morning and pray to the gods this chapter is closed.

Surely a real Barry would have popped down to Woolworths for some weetbix, and made a gasket from the box?

I hope it holds for you it's been a bit of a journey.

Think im back on track again also got that AWOL bolt out was just getting flung about inside of a drip shield bit of prodding it fell out fortunately shame I had 6 litres of new coolant in it and almost all of it came out.

Better now than on way to track that would have been shit.

Ok tomorrow fit the rear shocks.

I have paper but couldn't be assed after 4 attempts,  the bloody gasket once it started to snug up would wrap around bolt and rip itself too pieces. So bugger it goo it is.

Just waiting for repco to open so I can grab a few supplies.

Waterpump gasket delete partial success have small leak from one bolt that goes into Water so im going to fit a fibre washer and o rings and hope for best @zach_munce suggested just weld it together at this point im starting to consider it as an option.

Anyway to distract myself I Fitted the Tein adjustable rear shocks @jakesae101 sent me originals have gone a bit flacid.

See you all tomorrow.

It has a tiny weep that evaporates before forming a drip..... it'll do im to scared to touch it, i resorted to double heatshrinking the bolt thread taping it to death and a fibre washer as its an 8mm bolt in a 10mm hole seems very dumb and floppy its another days problem ill still bring water though:)

Just need to get some 100 octane and pack trailer and start to relax.

I've got a tune with the rev limit mapped to 6400rpm and a decent amount of timing pulled so I can go maddog and up the boost to 12-15psi if I all the stars aline.
