Muncie Posted November 18, 2024 Author Posted November 18, 2024 Wof time yes that's a funky looking set of headers..... I've gone for the soul destroying option of removing everything that handles boost. Because i still want to do the suspension before going for a cert and that's an after Christmas/Drag day problem. 2 Quote
Muncie Posted November 18, 2024 Author Posted November 18, 2024 WOF's achieved now to refit everything probably 30 minute job. Do a service and Spark plugs update tune then park it till drag day. I did a some logging last weekend and found it pings for a nanosecond at transition then is fine through to rev limit so will pull a few degrees of timing out of 2000-3000rpm should sort that. 2 3 Quote
Roman Posted November 19, 2024 Posted November 19, 2024 Shit yeah! Thats awesome to be WOF'd. Are there any enrichment settings in ECU you can play with? Might need a tad more on throttle stab Quote
Muncie Posted November 19, 2024 Author Posted November 19, 2024 Yup, enrichment is a setting i can mess with im still going fairly cautiously seems to be working as its still alive. The turbo wakes up super quick so I might also be getting a boost spike knock retard is catching it and pulling timing. Looking forward to ZUTUTUTU the shit out of and have it change gears properly with the Corvette servo in trans and shift times knocked down in the calibration. Be great if I could get some E85. Quote

WOT is happy so its off boost and transition to play with oh and cold start at least I don't need to be doing mach 1 to work on that. 1 Quote
Muncie Posted November 19, 2024 Author Posted November 19, 2024 Oh look, I actually bought some springs after 5 years FE2 police spec so about 25mm lower for rear not as hard as king springs thats why ive tracked them down. Will find some heavy duty ones for front maybe even coil overs. Love a low car but not when it makes it shit to live with. 5 Quote

Muncie Posted November 23, 2024 Author Posted November 23, 2024 Removed the warrant adapter and refitted the turbo and all is good. Plugs then maybe some low next. 2 Quote
Muncie Posted November 24, 2024 Author Posted November 24, 2024 Held off lowering this thing for ages because I was just enjoying not having to brake for speed humps. But shit it looks good, back right is a little higher than left at moment think i might just need to rotate spring a bit so it leans a bit better, I'll see if it settles. 7 Quote
Muncie Posted November 25, 2024 Author Posted November 25, 2024 One of the things i found when i turned the boost up above 8psi it gets to certain RPM and just goes flat i thought it was knocking and retarding the timing so i logged the knock counts and found bugger all everything is happy. After jumping on PCMHacking.net i went down a rabbit hole and found it may be traction control kicking instead ending the fun, this was also something the XDF Version i've been writing Maps with up till now had no way of editing. a couple of posts and some genius posted his XDF that has it all the traction control defined :O the internet forums who knew! I will probably have to play with this at Drag Day as its top of third gear stuff which is 150kph onwards not something i should be road testing. it may also be the reason its still alive. 5 1 Quote

Muncie Posted November 25, 2024 Author Posted November 25, 2024 Getting a bit tricky on that one some people say they max out at 15 psi others have moved more through them, Most people are running LS Mafs by time they get to 10psi which means there's more information available out there on how to set it up. i'm not smart enough yet to re-invent the wheel i guess. There's some clever people out there and a lot of them own shops so fair enough they don't want to share all the tricks. Dont think i need an LS MAF yet but it might simplify things going forward to fit one soon. 1 Quote
Muncie Posted November 26, 2024 Author Posted November 26, 2024 Just to clarify what's going on with the MAF the stock one outputs up to 10,000hz which works out to about 256 grams per second of airflow and im tagging this at 12-13psi the PCM is now mapped to read up to 16,000hz which would allow me to run up to 510 grams per second. Once the L67 bottom end goes in with some ring gap it will take 20+psi and I've got everything else in the car to support it now which is awesome. It's also less used hardware as people rip them out and go for a maffless tune. I might try rockautoparts.com 3 Quote
jakesae101 Posted November 26, 2024 Posted November 26, 2024 The bottom one can also be found on the late vz dbw ls1 cars , talk to Chris at Prestige tuning and Motorsport as he has removed a bunch for mafless tuning. Quote

That's what I thought they're $200 ish from rockautoparts.com genuine new can't imagine ones that have come off would be any worse for wear. So many getting around maffless theres got to be boxes of them laying around under benches. 1 Quote
Muncie Posted December 4, 2024 Author Posted December 4, 2024 Ooof this plug ain't happy! However only this plug which is a bit weird. Yes I know it's stinking rich i have leaned it up a bit a reasonable amount about 50km ago. I think better injectors need to go on shopping list as idle control isn't great, on boost though it's good. So I'll just keep it above 3000rpm for all of drag day. Quote
Muncie Posted December 4, 2024 Author Posted December 4, 2024 I woukd have hurt this a while ago I last had plugs 4-5 months ago Quote
Muncie Posted December 4, 2024 Author Posted December 4, 2024 Or probably when i accidentally boost spiked it over 15psi with the original fuel pump....... It still runs fine so ill just bloody send it. Quote
