Decided a bench Flash would be safer here as any niggling shit like the BCM saying hi on the network can kill the PCM.

Flashed everything in hit key and it started instantly which is weird as i normally need to floor it to get it to light off, running same settings but different dwell for coils so may have been issue the whole time.

Went up road fine everything as normal let it warm up then gave it a rev to see if 4000rpm spark cut limiter was doing its thing nope straight past 7000rpm oops I've fucked up. Check engine lights on so back to the laptop to see what ive missed but hey 7000rpm it's never got there before.

Calling it a partial win.

Testing stuff..... means passengers floor is a mess..l

For first time since I flipped the inlet manifold and fitted big injectors it now starts without needing to give it throttle which is fantastic and idles properly new software is showing my injectors are programmed as 950cc so I could definitely improve my economy a bit by going through fuel tables again.

All in all its better than when i ran at drags.

Did I mention i upgraded stereo?? Cos you know that's important in race cars.

Got to be able to turn the music up enough so you don't hear the rattles or misc non issues that make noises :p

Practical reason for new one was to clear some space behind head unit for some more electronics i want to run, being mechless its 1/3rd of the size and i haven't played a cd in years anyway.

Swapping to modern head unit subs and amp has saved about 15 kilos too.

Has come time time to renew my insurance on this and funny how mods have happened quite slowly over years I've always thought of this as mostly stock. Haha with AA it's basically uninsurable now. Shit.....

Time to find a new insurance company. I officially own a modified car which is cool.

I went with Starinsure in end my current cover was only 4k didn't realise it had dropped so much, so I'm now 10k agreed value with some add ons for wheel damage and glass.

For less than what I was paying AA

Woohoo! Got the spark cut to fire properly this morning none of my work other than setting up the bin file to run my setup The1 on PCMHACKING.NET sent me the file to try.

Looks like a winner so far some tweaks to be done I'm only trying at 3000rpm to check it's in there and doesn't  trigger check engine lights I'm low on 100 octane petrol so need to go find more of that before I can raise rev limit and see how it works at i dont know 7000rpm, my neighbours would love it if I didn't try that on my driveway though.

Partial success with spark cut. This thing can push through the spark cut on boost though  https://youtube.com/shorts/-Wnhu-Z59KA?si=RA4lhl2Cnt0uf6bF

So The1 is doing some more work as its doing some other weird things its thoroughly fucked with now (in a good way) and pushing this pcm to its limits of what is capable of.

This stuff takes hours! I really appreciate the work of someone who can program an ecu on a dyno.

Wow, that would be awesome!
Didnt realize you were stuck with an rpm limit like that.
Extra rpm helps heaps at the drags, will be well into the 13s if you can stretch it to 7500 or so.

There's a few pages i follow on instagram for turbo Holden stuff theres quite a few people pushing stock v6s really hard one dude has exact same setup as this runs his own Dyno. posted his run where he punched out just over 600hp at the hubs! 😮 on an unopened ecotec running a 4L60E and on E85. He admits it probably wouldn't do it twice but after turning it back down the car is fine and back to shop hack duties.

Drove it to work today to put some fresh petrol in. Has a slight surge at transition on to boost pretty sure I've left a weird step in my timing tables not even sure what I've got loaded in at moment I did some pretty rough ones to test spark cut limiter.

Can take 7% out of base injector specs but will need to add some fuel back in up top as these things like at least 12:1 at WOT with some boost and maybe dial some timing in get away from the Paris Hilton tune (rich and retarded) and wake it up a bit now that I know what im doing a bit better.

Need to calibrate the Wideband and plug that back in.

Maybe start thinking about doing some cert stuff......

Oh and get the front bmw wheels fitted up now I know the 10's on back are a winning combo offset wise.

Me and dad went for a drive to mess with tunes and this dude flew by in a red commodore so we chased him down and gave him a rev so he spun back to talk to us was not expecting this absolute beast

Which has led me order my next upgrade to an LS MAF Sensor and some new spark plugs for next round of tuning.

I've maxed out the stock Maf before 15psi so this should get me to 20 plus which realistically I'll be breaking transmissions and diffs before I run out of head room, an ls7 card type sensor is good to over 30psi but is a bit beyond my tuning skills and needs fabrication to fit the inlet pipes so happy medium it is.

I've been trialling a spark cut rev limit which works well spits flames etc and keeps the turbo on boost if your foot is down which I'll be running once the new MAF goes in.

Each drag day I've dropped at least a second so hopefully I'm into the 13s or high 12s this year.

Despite following this thread, I don't recall what tyres you running on the strip.

A decent set of drag specific tyres a game changer for drag racing.

The wrong ones...... ran a track slick because I had them and the were the right size.

I also had also just fitted adjustable rear shocks and had no idea how to set them up yet so were way to hard.

I've now got 275's under the ass and the shocks worked out now so a 13 second pass on about 15psi boost should be doable

Did actual maintenance to this poor thing and replaced the rooted spark plugs that have been in since 2021 with fresh set of NGK's

Also there's my new Delphi 4" airflow meter bit of work to do before throwing that in firstly finding out how to set up the scaling in tune so it reads correctly its a common upgrade so info should be available easy enough.

Runs nice again all way to and through the red line again.

New file flashed in today this is of course another Beta version off Pcmhacking.net

Has quite a few extra things that can be adjusted and a spare input is there for a 0-5v sensor not sure what I'll connect to that yet.

My wideband calibration must be wildly off for the state of the plugs they were wet with fuel when I took them out. The calculator used initially to set up the fuel injectors was probably 20% off giving me specs for 1050cc specs instead of 850cc hopefully that helps the massively rich situation.

The new tune file just has an injector size table and you add in the rest of specs from the injector info sheet and its away.

Did Some things today all software stuff uploaded a patched firmware that upped Max Cylinder airflow from 700mg/ second to 1650mg/ second

Pulled 10% fuel out then took for a test drive and it now knows what its doing with timing and fuel at the top end i'm seeing up to 953mg/sec at 5500rpm if i change my shift points it will rev to 6400rpm now.

Previously it would go flat after 700mg/s but still pull now it just goes and has mapping to do it. goes with one caveat i'm out of Range that my MAF can now measure peaking at just over 10800hz.

i've got a LS2 MAF that is both bigger and able to output up to 14000hz which should see me hit my 6400rpm @20psi goals which should make around 450-500hp according to a few dyno operators in oz that have seen a resurgence of turbo Ecotecs now LS stuff has become expensive again. Fitting it will mean starting all over again and setting up the tune to work with the different output of the new MAF.

Annoying that this Patch in the software probably would of got me a 13 second pass at drag day..... oh well

I'm still Beta Testing a Spark cut Rev limit for Pcmhacking.net thats on hold for the moment as it needs some people much smarter than i am to tweak the code to get it operating quicker so you dont lose 900rpm per cut event.
