It is fucking loud. like, FUCKING loud. It's supposed to be 70db at 7m. No, it's closer to 85db at 12m Anywho, long story short I've been measuring noise levels at the fence line so I can gauge if the neighbours will be able to hear it or not. my goal was to get it to 45db at the fence. Started out at 68db, after noise insulation, a couple of false walls and a way better muffler on the zorst we're down to 55db at the fence. Still got a couple of things to do that will make it louder (need to cut in some extraction fans in the walls) and quieter (doors still don't close tight so there's air gaps all around ) so we'll see where we end up 9 Quote

Muncie Posted May 10 Posted May 10 Gave the work bench a bit of fresh board today as my PCM programming has gotten a bit busier (successful too) built a new interface for my holden v6 flash PCM'S as my old one was cobbled together used computer bits and when I measured all the connections it was bloody terrible im surprised it worked at all. Big upgrade from old setup. V2 setup. Ive got same setup now for doing LS P01 and P59 PCM'S. Lab PSU is handy as for all kinds of things too. Smallest change but biggest changer of success was mounting the PCM In the original bracket from car while flashing if you bump a cable or work bench it can brick the PCM, locked the bracket its way less worries I need to find some nice pine or something to screw that to. 4 Quote

igor Posted May 17 Posted May 17 Got a hang on the wall style electric heater which has somehow parted company with its mounting brackets so I found some things and made a thing. Pretty sure the yellow foot piece is from a long since disused or repurposed work lamp. The steel straps which have been hanging in the shed here for decades are almost certainly power pole crossarm stays. The two bolts fastening the heater body to the upstand are spares that came with my new composting toilet. 3 Quote

In standard builder condition covered in shit. Pulled it apart this arvo, desoldered the volume knob and pried the tabs open. And promptly realising my fingers are not designed for this sort of caper, dropped all the bits off the edge of the table and onto the floor. Cleaned and rebent the contacts then put it back together for a test run. Jammed a screwdriver in the antenna hole and it all works mint. So now all i have to do is order an antenna and i have a camping/boating whatevering stereo. Fuck yeah. 12 Quote

No need to change your skill saw back and forth from a full cut to 25mm depth over and over again. Unable to over cut. Shit tons faster due to not having to adjust skilly, no measuring, and only two cuts vs shit tons + chiseling/grinding. Less mess, rather than piles of thin wood wafers you just have one 100x100x25mm bit of wood, which can be used for other projects or thrown at cats. It seems my genius knows no bounds. I have the exact same ones as those, and I've polished some of them on a buffing wheel or by hand. I get worse results and it takes me longer. Where do you get the acid? Are you going to coat the metal with something to prevent it tarnishing again? Quote
