Popular Post Transom
Built a ghetto sheet metal folder thingy on the end of my welding table 2 sections of grader blade from the scrap bin at work and some gate hinges from m10 +angle iron for handles+ random bolts and some old handles from my hoard - also has some cut spring from a fox 40 bicycle fork so it springs back up for loading and unloading Not bad radius on the bends may need to reinforce and tension the middle of the blades
Popular Post WhangareiKE70
Not as awesome and hectic as @Transom's beast, but I have one of those standard sized folders, they normally bolt to a bench and take up valuable bench space. I'd already done some strengthening mods, did a mod yesterday that I had been meaning to do for forever, took all of half an hour and most of that was finding the right size bit of box section. Just welded some box section to the feet of it, now it slides into the end of my welding/work bench. The bench weighs a lot so it is very sturdy once in there. Comes out easily, and I can hang it on the wall in between it's very occasional use, rather than having it in the way all the time.

a.craw4d
@WhangareiKE70 more dets on your folder please? Looks simple but I can't figure out how you clamp material in it. Is there something missing? I want to build a small set of rollers to roll 3mm flat bar, only need to be 300mm long but haven't been able to settle on a simple and effective design yet.
WhangareiKE70
@a.craw4d Yeah sorry there a few bits missing in those pics. It's basically one of these: https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/marketplace/building-renovation/tools/hand-tools/vices-clamps-presses/listing/3289797513 You can see it on the pics of the link, but there's a bit of I think 10mm plate the width of the bender and about 80mm deep. Clamped down with G clamps. Other than the mod to make it slide in the bench, mine has had a piece of angle stitch welded along the length of the folding part (the part that the handles slide into) as they aren't the strongest out of the box. Also updated the G clamps to some beefier ones as those little ones have shitty casting and break, but also need a spanner to tighten. Sometimes add a couple of those big jaw vice grip type things to clamp the middle better when folding harder stuff. I've done up to 1.6mm in mine taking it easy and it does it fine. Having bent a few things in it now with the bench mount mod, I am happy it works well I can cut the part of the feet off that sticks out the side haha
Popular Post maxted
Been modifying my tool trailer added a centre rack support and a door at the front, also dividing it in half. bit of fun learning to weld, need to make the door and ply the floor then its ready for a coat of paint.

Figured out the patch needed with CAD Can't find the pack of tungstens I've got in a safe place, so that's as far as I got, will grab some (or a MIG welder...) tomorrow. That's with the stock on still in place, should have tons of clearance from the shifter when it's actually bolted up! Just need to order a 45 or 60 and another 90 to finish it up, might get fancy and throw a V band in there while I'm at it. Popular Post Raizer
Tungstens acquired, still figuring out what I'm looking at with migs so am holding off for right now.
JustHarry
Atleast the Van's have a heap of space to work round the back of the turbo. The kzj78 is much less space

The kzj78 is much less space Yeah it's not too bad access wise, still a bit of a pain getting at the top bolts on the turbo, could be super easy if I took the rear carpet out and pulled the bell housing cover though. It's going over the swaybar + diff + Panhard then snaking around the spare wheel and diesel tank etc that's looking like it'll be the real challenge for me tbh, especially considering I'm using a lift tig on a gravel driveway ha 2.4 petrol version for reference.

So committed to a MIG Remembered I don't know how to use a MIG so kept at it with my little TIG Should flow a touch better?! Took several attempts to get it to here, but it clears the bell housing, shift linkages and trans cooler lines so it'll be mint now. Grinder and paint make me the welder I ain't or something Embarrassingly I forgot to pick up some straight tube on Friday, so it's going to be a rather loud trip to the steel shop in the morning!
Raizer
Would it really be one of my projects without a touch of jank? Have had a 3" in, twin 2.5" out muffler stashed away for coming up 2 years, turns out I needed an offset inlet or to remove the torsion bar adjuster to run a center inlet... So the center became an offset and the twin 2.5: outs became a single 3" Ran out of argon so had to find the confidence to fire up the new MIG, yeap I still suck at it! But it works and the exhaust sounds rather lush imo Now to figure out WTF I'm doing to get it out the back as currently it's just giving the diff a nice soot black coating 8
Popular Post GuyWithAviators
I also did turbo diesel stuff this weekend, plus T’ing a TD27 Nissan Datsun D21. First time playing with turbos, almost at the stage of @Raizer’s exhaust work ^ Acquired box of turbo bits from a Terrano, top end gasket kit and the desire to go up hills in not second gear. Unfortunately upon removing NA manifold (after fighting a downpipe stud for hours and cutting it off) found the two rear studs were actually bolts, m12 fine thread not the m10 coarse like the rest. One was actually missing and the second barely in there, hence the exhaust leak onto the firewall I hadn’t really noticed. however luckily @mo999was coming up to visit so brought along a really nice Wurth Timesert kit took a bit of effort to drill the broken studs out nicely as they’d been attacked before but got there and wound in some M10 inserts, they were a little long so just flappy disc’d them flush. The tap in the set cut the cast head really well. Used a nut as a locknut so the insertion tool wouldn’t bottom out and ruin the end of the insert as it was broken off unfortunately. Got an oil line made up after chipping out the wrong part of the oil filter housing to get oil feed for the turbo. Same shop was able to supply a bung for the fitting I took out needlessly however. Factory fitted drain bung used here too, had a fitting in stock for this. Sunday Mitre10 / Repco trip for bolts that work with the new inserts and longer ones needed for turbo manifold. turn key and it goes! Makes all the right noises even. Just need to get the correct silicone intake hose as the one I grabbed was too big and wind up the fuel pump a little. Then exhaust… 21
Popular Post MaxPower
Made a shitty planter out of an old cylinder, brazed up the holes and put some pipe round the top for safety left a hole in the bottom for the rain.
