MichaelJFox
Alright! I haven't collected this, but I will be tomorrow. Hasn't run in awhile, been told it has good spark with low compression so it won't run properly. Pretty excited to have something to tinker with, I guess I should pull it apart and check the rings etc first? Pic for thread; Cheers!
Raizer
I've had several QT's over the years, cool little scooters! Check out eBay etc to see if you can get hold of a MJ50 case, there 2 speed and make a huge difference.
MichaelJFox
Have I got the right idea about the compression? Just whip the head off and see whats going on?
Raizer
Yeah man, if the bore looks good you can get new rings etc for fuck all $$ to freshen it up http://s.aliexpress.com/UfAnaAvI There's 60cc kits around for these too.
MKD
Have I got the right idea about the compression? Just whip the head off and see whats going on? yeah probably means worn loose-ish rings? hopefully its not all slappy but a rebore is pretty cheap. you can get top end big bore kits for them pretty easy too. clean the carb first - dunno if theyre points or CDI but check points if it has them. Carb + points will be most of your starting issues sorted

MichaelJFox
I got this thing now - where do I attain a cheap 6v battery for it?
MKD
apparently is the 6n4-2a-5?? google will tell you. Bout $17 http://www.motozone.co.nz/products/hard-parts/electrical/batterys/aero-batterys/batteries.aspx itll run without one though probably
MichaelJFox
Apparently it'll run without one but I'll blow the headlight? Which doesn't have a changeable bulb according to Google - strikes me as retarded though.
Raizer
Yeah the battery works as a regulator, no battery + high revs = dead bulbs. Think I've got a headlight and some other QT bits here somewhere that might be of use to you? Will check at some point to see if they are still down the back of one of my sheds or if they did go to scrap years ago.
Lord Gruntfuttock
My FA had a rudimentary regulator in the cct that prevented that (zener diode or similar). Single wire going to small device that earthed to frame from memory. I assume the QT would have something similar?
MichaelJFox
I have purchased said battery anyway. I'd be keen as on some bits Raizer if you've got any spares! Cheers
MichaelJFox
So, battery just showed up - I need to put the acid in it and charge it
MichaelJFox
Alright this is the beast. Someones disconnected the oil mixer I think, can someone have a look here and tell me whats up? Do I have just to go fuel tank with premix -> carb -> success?

BlownCorona
shouldnt have any issue running premix UNLESS, it has oil fed main bearings, some bikes ive had in the past have an oil injector into a seal bearing and without the pump they would run the bearing. its unlikely this has anything like that, but pay to just check. also with premix, it may want a slightly larger jet in order to get the same amount of fuel in as the oil takes up some space and makes the fuel mix a little thicker, plug chops can lead you to success
