Bellicose
Gotta love going in to buy bearings and seals for ya obscure 2 stroke motor that was built on 1/12/1960 in Germany and they're 'off the shelf' items.
Seedy Al
oh the brake cable accelerator cable was me. It did have a twist grip, but it broke at the Drome and I needed a quick fix Have fond memories of buring up my leg on this pretty bad while drunk at Otaki Forks I need me more two strokes
Bellicose
So before bits stopped holding hands was it a ok runner? Just hoping I'm not wasting time and foldies. Although saying that it all looks good on the inside (apart from the obvious LOL)
Seedy Al
Yeah sure it ran pretty good. just push start and lol away besides when i was very drunk and added like 100mm to much 2 stroke to the mix, then it wouldnt start was not fast tho. But tire size might have been a factor Plus I'm not a small dude
Bellicose
Progress is slow (Livin' on the slopes of a mountain in the middle of winter isn't conducive to shed work LOL) BUT, it is progress none the less. Hope the step son knows how to ride a 3 wheeled skateboard hahahaha.......................
Steelies
looking rad! FYI in my experience rollers like that add a shitload of noise, wear, power loss and unwanted junk to movement of the chain, especially on the tight side like that. chain sliders/rub blocks work a lot better, straight line a million better. especially when you've only got 0.28Hp to start with haha. Bellicose
Cheers man. Yeah was thinking a "rub block" of some description. Any ideas on sourcing such a thing?
Steelies
something like this, http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/motorbikes/parts-for-sale/drivetrain/auction-1134172634.htm but ideally you'd secretly shorten the wife's favourite polyethylene chopping board and make one out of that! make it long and mild radius etc.

sr2
Sadly the only way to successfully run a roller on the 'drive' (i.e. tension) side of a chain drive is to use a sprocket as an idler pulley. It will need to be running on an idler shaft with bearings. Love your project however, good to see a fellow convert of the electrolysis rust removal method.
Bellicose
Front end rebuilt, all welding done, all "bodywork" done and all primed up. Petrol tank is in freezer full of water to get dents out. Next on list is recover seat..... And bend up some bars.....like these.

Bellicose
Keen to see before and after of tank repairs Thats a cool trick! unintentional pun Didn't work...pffffft............ I do have a deformed cap and 'filler neck now tho'. I guess the cap was weaker than the seams AND the dents. Off to find someone with one of these tomorrow. angry.red
There is also the option of pressurizing the tank with air and warming up the dents with a flame to pop them out, seen it done on 2 stroke expansion chambers.

Bellicose
Went out to chat to OS member 'Frosty' today about rims and spokes for the project (and all sorts of other general sh*t). ANNNNNNNNNNNNNNND i returned home with these...............bad ass......Exactly what i needed. Even more awesome was the fact he insisted i take them home, even tho' i said i wasn't in a position to pay for them right now. Frosty goes to the top of my "GCs" list.
Bellicose
Rear hub assembled. Front hub before & after a little cleaning. Need to clean brake shoes a bit then etch everything and assemble.
