Popular Post toy-mota
So now another crown has found its way into the shed. A 1969 Toyota Crown MS53 wags.last registered in 1996 and possibly the last time it ran. This came from the same place as HORNDOG's MS51 coupe. It has been sitting in a shed for quite awhile which has kept it in not to bad condition but the bottom of everything has rusted away, ie doors, sills, guards and tailgate.Tailgate has the worst of the rust but nothing that carnt be fixed. The car is 98% complete all chrome is there and is in relatively good nick .Just missing both front headlight bezels,'custom' badges and rear crown badges.Interior is all there ,factory black ,front seats are buckets with the usual wear and tear.Dash pad has a large bubble in it and the rear dickie seat works. So i trailered the old girl back home behind the 60series cruiser only for it to have a melt down on the way home. The alternator ratted loose and it spat some coolant out of somewere but no split hoses. After a helping hand from a local she was fixed and made it back with out any extra issues. Specs: reg on hold!!! factory 2M replaced with a 4M-U factory 4spd manual on the floor disc brake up front 5 seater with a 2 seater dickie seat in the rear electric tailgate window that still goes, and would go better than most 90s cars windows boot full of crown parts for ms60s 1973-1974 Got her home, chucked in a battery, checked the electric window to see if it still goes and score it works!!!!! Cleaned all the ignition system changed the seized carb over for another and put some gas in her and she fired up purring nicely, just some timing and tappets to adjust.Clutch needs bleeding to see if i can get it rolling under its own power, brakes also need some attention. So no real plans for this as of yet, just get it to drive and stop.Wouldnt mind taking it to the Rangiora car show at the start of the year. The ms65 will be finished first before the wags gets some love This is the parts container that is full of mostly crown 60series crown parts (theres a little left but i took most of it) a few rt80 corona bits,rx30 cressida parts, datsun 260c towbar, taillights and gasket set.these are all for sale and need to go Discuss here-----> //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/51148-toymotas-1969-ms53-crown-wags-discussion/
toy-mota
A bit of love has been given to the wagon lately.Ordered a carb kit and 1969 corona clutch cylinder and new brakes and hubs off OS member MATTTT, cheers mate.Ripped apart the carby and installed new pieces, now runs alot smoother but the tappets where noisy so off came the cover and went to check all the clearances, all were near fine except one being an easy 3mm out.re adjusted it and now she purrs.fitted the clutch cylinder from the states, fitted perfectly and engages the clutch which meant ROAD TEST!!! Started her up and eased down the drive, off down the street and around the corner ,got her into 3rd singing her tits off then having to down shift to slow as it doesn't have brakes as of yet, tried the handbrake and it works on one side just.Gearbox was fine for age and the car handled like a whale, shocks to add to the list of parts.Parked it back in the garage after 2mins of driving and easy 2 liters of gas used but worth it.10mins later cops roll past looking in,so some old lady must not of been impressed with the 4m barking loudly and a one wheeler donut. Unsure if this is the original box off the 2m but if it is a w40 it has a side shifter? can anyone confirm this Also would the mechanical fuel pump be a main cause in crap fuel economy as 1 litre of gas in 5mins worth of idling seems bad dicuss here....//oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/51148-toymotas-1969-ms53-crown-wags-discussion/
toy-mota
still on the hunt for any parts for the wags, found a hole pallet of crown parts on trademe, scored a column change gearbox and alot of random wag bits for $30.but my search for parts has gone from OZ to USA,Japan,Switzerland,Netherlands and Russia, they all have wagons but as they are hard to find over there parts are thin, but still searching.managed to find repo tailight lenses. Are there companies in NZ that can reproduce lenses, diecast frames, badges?? also got these nos fj40 side marker lights for abit of usdm look
Popular Post toy-mota
The wagon has received some love lately.I managed to find a series 1 wagon getting wreaked in OZ .He had everything i was missing so the wagon is now complete.I will probably look into getting the badges scanned and 3d printed as they're pretty brittle. He also had a spoiler which looks to be period aftermarket, whats your guys thoughts on it? nothing/roof racks/spoiler? ( spoiler sits a little further out the back) .Also got a NOS grille from Thailand and a bunch of ms112 parts from Seedy AL that will improve the wagons braking. took it for a spin round the block goes well considering stale fuel,no brakes and 20 year old engine oil front to back is filling up with parts
toy-mota
Scored a parts car for the wagon,a series 1 1968 ms55.the interior is in far better condition than the wagon so dash, front buckets and door cards will be going in the wagon, might keep some glass and the diff.sad sight ,always destined for the crusher but atleast i can save some bits

toy-mota
Ahhhh progress I randomly one day last year stubbled across a guy on FB selling newer crown parts,in the back of a pic was a ms53. I messaged him and he was willing to sell me some bits, after nearly a year of organising and conversions I imported 8 boxes of parts!! 4 doors,a tailgate,a superdeluxe benchseat, trim pieces and other parts that my car needed for the resto. This car has been abit of an international affair .being 1 of 2 known in NZ ive had to get used and nos parts from Thailand, finland, norway, the netherlands, japan and canada . Hopefully that should be it for now.... for anyone wondering i used CFR line in auckland to bring the parts in. Super helpful and great pricing

toy-mota
Speedhut 4inch gauges turned up today. One is a quad gauge with oil, water, fuel and amps. These will fit with little mods to the factory dash i have a speedhut speedo already installed in my ms65, so a No brainer in doing it again, easy wire up and mounting , able to customise it and if i change wheels/diff i can recalibrate with a push of a button, life time warranty also
