Jackbates Posted October 19, 2015 Share Posted October 19, 2015 On the home stretch of rebuilding a 4g63 vr4 engine, was replacing the old cometic 0.066" head gasket with a 0.051" gasket. If you are going to check clearances I guess you would have to crank it down to correct torque settings and therefore render the gasket useless if you pull the head off again? igor Posted October 19, 2015 Share Posted October 19, 2015 Got away with reusing a head gasket on a mate's 3.6 XR coon once. In the absence of a new gasket we applied paint thickly to the mating faces of the head and the block and slapped it together while the paint was wet. mjrstar Posted October 19, 2015 Share Posted October 19, 2015 Use an oem MLS headgasket on your VR4, should be all gravy on standard valvetrain I would suspect.
