tortron
jeeze, not even nutech brand! do you have a mig? I have nothing on (but sold my welder when I left the country) and don't mind lending a hand. Is the rego live or does it need to go through compliance?

GuyWithAviators
That piece goes on your carb, it's the vacuum advance pipe.
Nominal
That piece goes on your carb, it's the vacuum advance pipe. Yes, from carb port to vacuum advance can on the distributor. Don't leave it disconnected - you will have a nasty vacuum leak.
Ghostchips
Leaving that hose undone isn't so bad as a vacuum leak, it's the spark timing that matter more (in my mind) but yeah it goes to the manifold or carb' base.

mtbtimr
Back wheel is fine - looks like the same fitment we had. I recommend this site for choosing tire sizing - try to aim for the outer diameter of the tire to be the same as stock. We used some $90 165/60/R14s and they were pretty marginal as to whether we needed flares or not - if you pump up the suspension and find a nice wof guy you should be fine. Will look sick if you can get it fitting right!
locost_bryan
Anyone else ever noticed that the left rear door always starts to rust before the other doors on these? I've seen so many that are pretty good apart from the left rear door. Lines of them in the wreckers all good except for the door I want. Possibly because it's on the kerbside, so the water runs that way, and the mud splatter more likely to block the drain holes? Everything with an Austin or Morris badge leaked water somewhere (and often in strange places) - my '67 Mini and '73 Marina did.

Ghostchips
Have you tested the components before you dismiss them as needing to be replaced?
SOHC
Have you tested the components before you dismiss them as needing to be replaced? I don't think I have even come across a bad coil in my life yet,
Ghostchips
I don't think I have even come across a bad coil in my life yet, i have had 3, one the insulation was breaking down, the other 2 got weak when hot and resistance would climb.
mo999
Your cranking speed is very slow - either starter is bad or your battery is not so good - poor cable connections etc.
8ball
Agree. Cranking speed is rather pathetic. Check all the earths and cables. On a car that old they may have corroded and the cables may have seen better days. Charge and check the battery properly (or use a known good one) And check the starter etc.
