flyingbrick
300kw! This just keeps getting better and better.
Willdat?
My students will be racing at the same event in November - unfortunately not in the same class! But they're only Year 11, 2 more years to get to this standard. We saw images at the most recent boot camp unless there's another KE70 being built up...

Big Value Buddy
Cool to see this on Oldschool. I remember reading in the news a while back about a twin headlight conversion being stolen from some students. Must have been you (stink about that). Keep up the good work. Looking forward to seeing this come together.
Bangbug
30.7kwh battery by my caveman calcs, that's pretty decent! x 180 (if you can get Telsa prices from Panasonic) = $5.5k. 100- 120km of careful driving in that brick? Â FOLLOWED! Much excite
HighLUX
Super sweeet project.  How do motors get attached to the driveshaft? Are you using a tailhousing off a conventional gearbox like in that photo? 300kw will be interesting with 100% torque available from idle or can you program the power with the controller box? Atleast you have wagon room to hang the batteries in the back over the rear axle to try and gain some traction

Ghostchips
Is this a drift car?
Flauski
Unique, I like it.
Dangle6060
Stolen twin headlight front, that was us alright, know who the bugger is and have proof too, just not enough for the cops to do something about it (as always). Video's will come in November! Just getting the last of the funding we need first! We are gonna have a direct coupler for the direct drive with a steel gaurd attached for protection! As much as I'd love it to be a drift car electric motors are not suited to long amounts of stress (a lot like a petroleum motors except bad things happen faster and are nearly impossible to just replace a part). flyingbrick
What types of stress are ya talking about? What fails? I'd have thought theyd be near bullet proof!
governorsam
This excites me. Good job.
Dangle6060
Stress, we are talking about plus of 10,000 rpm for long periods of time, at this point you are shoving all your juice (1,800amps and 192v) into the motors they can't handle it! This will lead to welded/melted wires in the internals and destroyed motor brushes which is not Ideal. They are essentially bulletproof but they still have their limits.
h4nd
What's your plan for battery charger?
Dangle6060
A Zivan Ng-3 charger which is capable of 30amps but will be at 8 Amps due to our battery pack size.
Yowzer
I found a twin headlight KE70 driven by a very trashy chick in Morrinsville, so I had a good look over the front to see if the paint chips and wear matched yours, but nah it's far more beat up.
Willdat?
Did you guys use the kit set speed controller last year? Or something more custom?
KKtrips
Why do you need electric vacuum?
Willdat?
Was good to chat to you guys at Evolocity this year. Will be great to see how this goes next time - we'll hopefully have a vehicle capable of 60+ km/h which should be pretty fun!
