wanted- someone to look over a bus in wellington for a friend

Recommended Posts

A local friend of mine wants to convert a bus and has been looking out for one. His girlfriend found this one on TM and they have asked me if I knew anyone who could look over it for them. I have already told my friend he should ask the seller if they will put a fresh vtnz cof on it for the asking price. If seller aint prepared to then it might ring some alarm bells...

Anyway- I'll put him onto this thread and if anyone can help out that would be great! Beer or monies or what ever a fair price is I am sure will be offered for services.

This here be thy bus in question...

hah, amazing what you can learn and cofirm when you actually read the listing too eh?

I reckon for an extra 3g, and a little extra driving but less ferry worries, then they should buy this:

or this

MAN SL200/202 are much easier to get bits for, as are (slightly less so) Merc O305s. they're also really cheap

Volvo B10Ms and B58s ex Mana/Newlands coaches are good one to look out for too (in citybus format) usually fitted with an allison trans and the bits are easy and cheap to get for them.

BOOM

Wicked- cheers for the info Cam! Im trying to get Julian to join up here so I dont need to be a middle man.

Yep- for 10k on an old bus Id expect a fresh cof from vtnz. If it has only just lapsed then hey- surely it cant be a problem to get a new cof.

Oh and heaps of old buses were alloy skinned... and there lays the problem. Alloy skin against steel frame in a bus that was only designed to last a decade or two, filled with passengers on a damp winters day- all that condensation running down between the steel and alloy. My mates old bedford looked great outside but the steel frame was rotten through.

Come on Alex, you know that if our motorhome racing team is going to race fairly, they MUST be Hino EH700 powered.

Otherwise we would get our ass's handed to us by a Volvo v10 turbo, stockcar carrying 11 meter monster

I'lll try to get him to buy a Hino!

hmmm yeah the hess bodies were alloy frame too apparently though. they had some of those bodies on older b58 based trolley buses in welly that got converted back to diesel by newlands coach and they are mean apparently.
