Popular Post Cullen
So, last year I went and had a look at a mates 616 he had stored away in his sisters shed for better part of a decade. He bought it cheap, drove it for a small while then pulled it apart and did some work to it. During this period he bought a rx2 and then another rx2 and thus this got neglected. Anyway, deal was done and I became the new owner of a complete (but in bits) rx2 converted 616. This conversion was originally done by the infamous Mazfarm, those that know him know he would have been drunk and distracted by chickens while doing this and therefore did a halfarsed job of it. I'm sure Mutiny has some old pics of it. Plans? well, I'm heading off to 'murica for a while so I've dumped it with bubblegoose. He's going to do some paneling and painting and stuff. It came with almost everything - I had to buy some front seats, rear garnish and a horn pad. everything else seems to be there. it has a rx7 12a and s1 gearbox. engine has been pulled down and checked and ports have been extended. I will most probably add some bridgeported plates into the mix before it goes into the car though. I already had the rays/volk mesh wheels. I bought some SSR MKIII for it and am currently looking for some hotwires to put my eagers on (you can never have too many options!) That's it for now Discussion: //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/47513-2nd-child-update-noscos-mazda-616/#entry1484361

Cullen
So, I'm back from the US of A. The Englishman has been chipping away at panel work and so far has found nothing overly sinister under the paint, just the usual you'd expect from a jappa of its era. Fair bit still to go yet but it has been mostly taken back to bare steel. Doors, guards and bonnet have been repaired and are in primer. I dropped a pair of mk3 at pine engineering to get a spruce up and 64valiant has set about making a hoodlining for it. That's all for now. Pretty boring so here's a couple of pictures of the GMC I travelled around murika and canadia in Currently looking for a b1600 diff to throw at it also.

Popular Post Cullen
A couple of weeks ago I went and grabbed a paint sample from the owner of this s1 rx2, all going well it is currently being matched. These turned up on a facebook page and I owned them within five minutes! I'd been looking for a while but they didn't seem to come up for sale often. I paid a third the price of the the last pair I saw for sale so I was pretty happy. A badge I was missing turned up today in the post. On the lookout for a factoryish radio now if anyone has one? Next update might be it painted? Fizzing after going to Leadfoot and REunion.

Popular Post Cullen
Cos scotty asked for an update here it is. Motor is in. No plumbing yet as oil cooler mounts are being redone. Need to fit starter motor and a couple of wires, exhaust and plumbing and it might run? Few maintenance items have been done - new tie rods, a handful of bushes, fixed up a couple of hard lines (thanks born loser for the use of his flare kit). Halfway through undersealing the rear so the fuel tank can go back in. All interior is in minus hoodlining. Ummm yeah idk ask me questions if you have any Thanks shauno and brdflu for helping inbetween drinking speights, smoking durries and getting bikes ready for dirtmasters
Popular Post Cullen
I have some cool friends. One of them is pretty good at taking photos. Thanks rotahoe for these photos. U da bes. Qcr dirtmasters has taken priority last couple of weeks, time to get back into this. Need to do a couple of things and then start it up. Not sure I said but the reason hardly any exterior trims are on is that it requires a respray.
Cullen
Update time, I guess, as it's raining.Roco gave it a respray, it's now as flash as a rat with a gold tooth. It was unfortunate it had to be done but it did mean any small things could be fixed up.Cooling and fuel systems are in and done.Mint16 got windscreen seals in from Aussie for me, which I need to go pick up.Driveshaft that came with the car was too long but oddly (hoarding) I found a shorter driveshaft in my shed. What's left? Finish off brakes and bleed them up. Shorten the clutch line and bleed. Windscreens in. Couple of door handles and work out how the strikers work. Install bits of trim and a small amount of wiring. There will be more but that's off top of my dome. sideways picture is sideways

Popular Post Cullen
Right. So, it's been a while. First drive was Saturday after a mate made the exhaust on friday. Shit it was pining. Between my last update and the first drive I had a handful of issues and made some life choices that meant I missed taking this to hanmer! At this point I need to get some clips for windscreen surrounds and screens can go in, wire up tail lights, get a wheel alignment, fuel and temp gauges, and whatever else I've forgotten before the end of the month so that it can be stored away for two months while I'm overseas and be ready for 4nR. It's a tad premature but I'm stoked to get to the point where it's almost roadgoing and it couldn't have been done without the help of a few people. Brdflu, bubblegoose, Mr.mk1, 64vauxhall born loser, Shauno, filth70, Snoozin, Ben10, mint16 and any other fucker that helped in one way or another, thanks. It's been greatly appreciated. Heres another photo

Popular Post Cullen
Bonus update: over last week quite a bit of progress was made. I had windscreens installed. the brakes which had been giving me grief were diagnosed and resolved. benno diagnosed some wiring faults and then finished some wiring that was beyond me. rear struts were modified to make springs captive, then 10kms of driving later the shocks died so I ended up borrowing some struts for wof. Front bumper mounts were modified so bumper could finally go on. And an array of other small things. Car needs some trims and badges fitted, bonnet finished off and final cut/polish to be readyish to take to timaru in December.
