d.p.n.s
I finished making the hot side intercooler piping today and also made the brackets to bolt the air box to the engine bay. All in all I'm pretty happy with it so far. And only need to use 4 silicon joiners in the whole set up from air box the intake fannymold.

d.p.n.s
So I went to make the down pipe form the turbo and ran into a wee bit of a problem..... Not much room. So I had to take the motor and box out and will now have to fast track the making of the steering .just so I know where the exhaust will run. On a plus side it means I can make the cross member and also I managed to take the motor and box out from the top like you would with a normal car so that made me happy. Also new gasket set turned up and managed to get my hands on some 1ggze dizzys and 7mgte coil pack , igniter ,plug leads. Pulled the motor down to the long block and gave it a Clean.
d.p.n.s
Spent the morning in the mud and rain out at pick apart they had a 76 Volvo 264 out there and I wanted the diff. Pros Only 1400mm ( 25mm wider each side then the escort/cortina diff) Very strong Disc brakes 3.5 ratio Still got hand brake cables $119 Cons Not LSD 5x108 stud pattern Didn't have a tag on the diff so unsure how to work out if its a 1030 or 1031 diff as I believed you can use A lot of dana 30 stuff. All in all perfect diff and this will be the one I use.over all the others I've tryed and looked at trying.
d.p.n.s
OK .....steering time .need to sort this so the motor and box can go back in so I know where the turbo down pipe will go So in turn I can finish making the firewall/tunnel.. So i put the car back on the rotisserie and flipped it on the side. I have no intentions of fucking with the Ackerman geometry but I will be going rack and pinion so I'll be using all the factory cortina parts in the original place . Seeing as the engine is front sump as well as the steering arms facing backward I'm just going to mount the rack behind the cross member. So bolted shit back in and ran a string line from steering arm to steering arm. Once I get the rack where it should be I'll cut the temporary cross member brace out and tie the cross member and steering rack together.and then its just a matter of drill steering arms for mk2 escort tie rods and using some rod extenders
d.p.n.s
Soooooo unlike my normal way of measure once with out my glasses and not taking much notice of the number on the tape and having to redo things 8 times...I took my time to make sure all engine mounts, steering mounts and control arm mounts are 100% where I wanted them.. All braced up to take to work to cut the bracing off as I weld new bracing in till it looks like a semi nicish K member. This is how it looks now before I start. That is all back to your caves.

Its about the same length as the last garage but half the width. Over all still'pleanty of room so I might get back into it.

d.p.n.s
Well its a new year and I thought I should do some work on the old girl. 1st time I've tryed the new cross member since making it and its a nice fit. Then mounted the escort steering rack and the to is a good fit with full movement and nothing hitting...so far Then I put spear motor and box in and that was not straight forward at all....thanks to the shut loads of rafters in the garage roof ....so close together and low. Ended up leaving the motor hanging while I lifted the front of the car so the wife could take the axle stands out so the car was low enough. Once all in its good to see plenty of room around the master pipes at the rear of the motor and also around the steering joint. Now I can continue making shit.

d.p.n.s
After picking mjrstars brain and finding the parts needed I converted the 1ggte from distributor to CAS today so I tgjoight I would just pita quick how to on here. The distributor is way to big and in the way and iI waned to to run wasted spark any way. Big arse dizzy Difference between dizzy and 1ggze CAS And as you can see the CAS won't fit with the 1ggte thermostat housing. So you need the housing from a 1gge as they sit lower.here the differance between the 2 The new housing bolts up the same and the heater pipe bolts straight up as well the only thing is there went any coolant pipes for the factory turbos. Also the top 2 bolt holes need to be drilled out as the 1ggte bolts are thicker. The top edge all so needs to be ground down a wee bit so the cas fits. I used my milling machine. My milling machine Now plenty of room Job done
d.p.n.s
Got some things done today... BOV mounted Made mounts and spacers for the coil packs And the diff...3.55 torana ...LSD.. And drilled to 4x108. It had some mounts on it for other calipers but I don't know what. So I took a trip to pick a part and grabbed some focus discs and calipers as well as a full set out wheel studs from a sierra. I drilled the hole out for the thicker wheel studs. And made some tabs to moist the calipers.
