Raizer Posted February 19 Posted February 19 I'd be off to Pick A Part for a $65 ABS pump, there is at least 3 in the yard down there. Can get a cracked copy of Xentry from AliExpress or MHH forums ($10USD joining "donation"), sub $20 for an OpenPort OBD2 passthru from Ali and then you can virginize and recode the used pump yourself. 5 Quote
cubastreet Posted February 19 Posted February 19 Interesting. I really don't want to have anything more to do with it, but the guy has had some seriously bad luck lately and I kinda feel he deserves some good in his life. are there any guides online? 2 Quote

ThePog Posted February 22 Posted February 22 Can any of you golf/audi/vag peeps tell me this; The shift tower on this golf gti gearbox has this cam/indenty thing on it It is retaining some gubbins, springs and such. Can it be removed or is it pressed onto the shaft? Cos if it can be removed, rotated 180deg and put back on it makes an incredibly handy forward facing shift lever situation for me. At absolute worst I can cut the cup off and weld it back on rotated, but dissasembly would be preferable... Quote

Adoom Posted February 23 Posted February 23 I've discovered that the flow regulator for my tig welder is leaking where it screws together. It had some kind of sealant when I took it apart. Given that it sees bottle pressure that is up to 4000psi. What kind of thread sealant can I use? Or is it not worth the effort so I should just spend $100 on a new one? Some locktite sealant is ~$60 for a tiny bottle. Quote

Leone Posted March 7 Posted March 7 Question regarding cyclic idle, have read that it’s to keep the car cool but is it enough without a fan or is it to be used in conjunction with a fan? Quote

It is still used on conjunction with a fan, I guess seeings as you are asking about it you understand the working principle, but basically it is like PWM for your engine, I would imagine it would be a useful stratergy on a car that had a cooling system on the edge, so like fine if moving, normal traffic etc, but get caught in an accident queue and it would overheats type deal. Leone Posted March 10 Posted March 10 @Rookie to give some context, Its a weekend car but still don't want it to overheat...i have extremely limited space with the factory radiator (approx. less than 25mm), yes I could custom radiator or repurpose something but I'm trying to keep as much stock items as possible, due to all the racing content I see I thought cyclic idle might be a solution...as adding it when tuning appears easier than customizing something.. (and not easily replaceable if something breaks) Looks like I'm still at the drawing board. Quote

Assuming you have an ECU that can do it properly, ie, open the throttle blade to 50+% and has the right kind of stratergy implemented when needed then, I see no reason it couldn't help you to keep temps under control, definitely worth a shot, I don't have any specific numbers but my guess would be you would save around 30% of the heat load at idle, so it isn't insignificant. 18 hours ago, cletus said: what i mean is, on most of the cars i deal with, which are road cars that have that cyclic idle thing set up, its only for wank purposes, the owner wants it to idle like a ported rotary so it ''sounds cool'' its not like it has just done a rally stage with antilag on and needs to cool down. So your comment to Leone was a pointless one; the dude asked a genuine question about using it for heat reduction and you answered in a way that made him think he was on the wrong track when he wasn't. Do better. 2 Quote
cletus Posted March 12 Posted March 12 i stand by my opinion, and its just that, an opinion. its not law. suggesting that someone mucks around setting up a car to go BAARP BAAARP BAARP BAARP while sitting in traffic on the off chance it might stay cool enough to not chernobyl itself instead of just fitting an electric or engine driven fan like every other car on the planet, seems to me like youre setting them up for a big ol waste of time. 4 4 Quote
