Corbie Posted August 7, 2025 Posted August 7, 2025 Chome is a gas. It will expand to fill the memory avaliable to it. 2 Quote

It's probably the caliper on the other wheel that is occasionally grabbing as the axle turns. Sometimes the piston in the caliper doesn't automatically retract slightly when you let off the pedal, so you will get light rubbing. That can be caused either by internally swollen brake hoses or worn o-ring in piston bore. The o-ring is designed to deform under pressure then pull the piston back a bit when you let off. Light rubbing is always louder than heavy rubbing Have done some more experimenting this week and I like this explanation the best No brake calipers or discs = no noise Just discs = no noise Drivers side caliper only = noise. I'll see about rounding up another set of calipers to rebuild as the car has a WOF and I don't want it up on jackstands for ages. Apart from that I'm going to put the wheels back on and send it. 2 Quote

I run cheap Chinese auto drains on both compressor and a low point in my circuit and I can honestly say they have been a godsend. I set them to drain every 30min for 5 secs. Handy also to remind you that the air is still on 3 Quote
ul9601 Posted August 9, 2025 Posted August 9, 2025 i got this towbar off pick apart but it's not the usual configuration, like legs attached to rails with doubler plates etc in shear. this goes on where the factory bumper reinforcement bar, in tension. obviously the bumper reinforment would not be in tensile load so it would be a bad idea to use the same factory bolts on them. do i just go for 8.8 bolts and be done with it? the sticker says ~700kg braked and ~500kg unbraked. ThePog Posted August 9, 2025 Posted August 9, 2025 Just scored this bad boy off marketplace, runs and everything. CIXI THREE CIRCLE DIESEL ENGINE CO.,LTD. https://share.google/F9gLtpCguSS5pHGzv Waste oil here we come 9 Quote
ThePog Posted August 10, 2025 Posted August 10, 2025 I also have this lying around, perhaps the two shall become intertwined 3 Quote
h4nd Posted August 10, 2025 Posted August 10, 2025 @ThePog That's a fine idea. I'd been meaning to commission an engie to do a repeatable bearing mount for some of those. A vertical mount one would make a non-directional vertical axis wind turbine kit easy-ish. (need to trim the corners of the iron to reduce low speed cogging). Easy(ish) to rewire to lower V (and more phases), thusly https://thebackshed.com/windmill/FPRewire.php https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BzVDBix3S_qbNnZvbDByQUhIcjA/view?resourcekey=0-_MFlLhtc_rqvP55ZBEDtoA 1 Quote

fletch Posted August 10, 2025 Posted August 10, 2025 Done some I.T. debauchery today to get a temporary PLC talking to skynet. I didn't have any rj45 plugs that fit the cable, but I did have a bunch of knock off wago's 2 3 2 Quote
h4nd Posted August 10, 2025 Posted August 10, 2025 Oops, I probably shouldn't be making correct fitting Gen2 Prius dome lamps in just the warm white colour I prefer I've just got to set up the pre-route so as to get the vertexes get plated. 4 Quote

kws Posted August 10, 2025 Posted August 10, 2025 In my experience wifi ones suck and are a bit limited in what apps works. I have used the small blue ones heaps with no issues. Keep in mind they're only for generic OBD2, not OEM software. 1 Quote

Car Scanner is the app I use too, so that's good to know. Interestingly, the adapter I had was on their shit-list. Those fancy ones look fancy though. I'd definitely need to put an airtag on it if I was spending that much. Quote

cubastreet Posted August 11, 2025 Posted August 11, 2025 I guess these channels are to mount a roof rack? How does that work? Quote
440bbm Posted August 11, 2025 Posted August 11, 2025 Normally if so, there have been threaded holes that you can bolt them in to there specifically for them. But otherwise they are just a body line to seperate the roof to the side pillar structure. 1 Quote
Nominal Posted August 11, 2025 Posted August 11, 2025 Most modern carns have that channel, I presume it's a cheaper/stronger option to do it like that with a trim strip rather than a sheetmetal skin join that needs to be finished off. Quote
h4nd Posted August 12, 2025 Posted August 12, 2025 Doing a DigiKey order in a day or 3. Any of you (Chch or nearby) nerds need particular shit not avail on AliEx, wanna bypass the shipping fee? @EpochNZ @Metalhead96 @BlownCorona? Tag any nerds I've missed. edit: Shit I love DigiKey - select the part parameters: Sorts by cheapest first Check the part, yeah, it's good. Go to order 5x That'll be NZ$2.95, but if you click here for this alt number for the same part, you can get 10x for $2.50 It's like they want you to come back, or something. Weird. 1 Quote
