Sometimes the piston in the caliper doesn't automatically retract slightly when you let off the pedal, so you will get light rubbing. Have done some more experimenting this week and I like this explanation the best

No brake calipers or discs = no noise

Just discs = no noise

Drivers side caliper only = noise.

 

I'll see about rounding up another set of calipers to rebuild as the car has a WOF and I don't want it up on jackstands for ages.

 

Apart from that I'm going to put the wheels back on and send it.

i got this towbar off pick apart but it's not the usual configuration, like legs attached to rails with doubler plates etc in shear.

this goes on where the factory bumper reinforcement bar, in tension.

obviously the bumper reinforment would not be in tensile load so it would be a bad idea to use the same factory bolts on them.

do i just go for 8.8 bolts and be done with it? the sticker says ~700kg braked and ~500kg unbraked.

@ThePog That's a fine idea. I'd been meaning to commission an engie to do a repeatable bearing mount for some of those.

A vertical mount one would make a non-directional vertical axis wind turbine kit easy-ish. (need to trim the corners of the iron to reduce low speed cogging).

Other than the biggliness of the black one (tehehe) what's the difference? My Toyota and iPhone friendly OBD scanner went walkabout (someone sold their car with it still plugged in). Any other iphone/toyota recommendations??

In my experience wifi ones suck and are a bit limited in what apps works. I have used the small blue ones heaps with no issues. Keep in mind they're only for generic OBD2, not OEM software.

That's a good link. Car Scanner is the app I use too, so that's good to know. Interestingly, the adapter I had was on their shit-list. Those fancy ones look fancy though. I'd definitely need to put an airtag on it if I was spending that much.

Normally if so, there have been threaded holes that you can bolt them in to there specifically for them.  But otherwise they are just a body line to seperate the roof to the side pillar  structure.

Most modern carns have that channel, I presume it's a cheaper/stronger option to do it like that with a trim strip rather than a sheetmetal skin join that needs to be finished off.
