Mof Posted August 3, 2025 Posted August 3, 2025 Did someone sneak a cable tie onto your driveshaft? 2 Quote

Beaver Posted August 3, 2025 Posted August 3, 2025 Oh heck that's a proper noise. Could be fucked bearings that load up when the brakes are on so make them quiet? Loose driveshaft bolts? Chunk of something in the diff centre? Quote

Beaver Posted August 3, 2025 Posted August 3, 2025 Agreed its weird. And it's not 100% cyclic in the video (a few times it changes speed/double time) Quote
rusty360 Posted August 3, 2025 Posted August 3, 2025 I had one with my eh, just was a similar noise every now and then, not as bad as yours thou. The axle bearing had started to collapse. Jacked it up sounded ok, but under load not so happy. 1 Quote
RUNAMUCK Posted August 3, 2025 Posted August 3, 2025 I'd be afraid it was in deeper. Almost sounds like a tooth off the ring gear to me. (Part of a tooth) 1 Quote

Same tactic works on EA-ED. Pretty good calipers once you know how to make them work/don't crank up the cable then give up. 1 Quote
Valiant Posted August 4, 2025 Posted August 4, 2025 On a different note, Electricians of Oldschool, Fluorescent lights not working, I have replaced the little starters which has got some working. The others that weren't working at all now flicker and glow dully at the ends. Do I need to replace the tubes too? Thanks. Quote

ajg193 Posted August 4, 2025 Posted August 4, 2025 Sounds like the backlash is just being taken up and released in the diff. It's probably the caliper on the other wheel that is occasionally grabbing as the axle turns. Sometimes the piston in the caliper doesn't automatically retract slightly when you let off the pedal, so you will get light rubbing. That can be caused either by internally swollen brake hoses or worn o-ring in piston bore. The o-ring is designed to deform under pressure then pull the piston back a bit when you let off. Light rubbing is always louder than heavy rubbing 3 Quote

Just got to get rid of the aro fittings for Nitto and might as well run some flex for a dedicated 15a socket so I can finally ditch the mess of multi plugs and ancient short extension cords. Finally got it in the shed today and turned it on for the first time etc, I'm impressed. It fills the 70L tank in what feels like half the time the old way more expensive Air Command took to fill 50L! And it does it quieter than the old one ever did. 11 Quote
