tortron Posted August 25, 2024 Posted August 25, 2024 @mlracing.co.nz I wonder if there's some kind of jig I could get or make to have the cuts perfect though, excluding getting a giant lathe. Yes, I saw a jig from a wheel place come up for sale a year or two ago. It was just a grinder mounted to a stand and a hub welded to it, you could slide one half back or forward to align the disk on the rim Not totally dissimilar to this 1 Quote

Anzor has a sealer that’s slows down the reaction but won’t stop it. Tef-gel. this stuff is the shit. we used it heaps on the sub and marine stuff. it will be fine for your application. unless you have current/earthing or in salt water the chances of any corrosion you see over the number of years the item that this is used on, that is on your ownership will be minimal. 2 Quote

440bbm Posted August 26, 2024 Posted August 26, 2024 I probably shouldn't be so crass. Some very unfortunate idiots trusted Stocktons crazy way too much and ultimately paid more than the high price of 250k each and their lives. *disclaimer. i had nothing to do with that one. But i bet the fella that sold them the logitech game controller they used to pilot the sub with feels some sort of responsibility for not upselling to the top line model LOL Quote

440bbm Posted August 27, 2024 Posted August 27, 2024 certainly puts a different spin on a 'lifetime warranty'. 1 Quote

ThePog Posted August 30, 2024 Posted August 30, 2024 If I were to find a high pressure, low flow 24v air pump on the cheap would I find it in the form of a truck AC compressor or the like? I am talking up to 2000psi or some decent fraction of that sort of pressure.. 1 Quote
NickJ Posted August 30, 2024 Posted August 30, 2024 AC is in the 10-15 Bar range. 2000 psi in a gas is multistage/intensifier realm cos big ratios = heat I'm assuming a bottle of Nitrogen is not on the possible list? Quote
smokin'joe Posted August 30, 2024 Posted August 30, 2024 speaking of air pumps and volumes. did i see correctly that RRover (maybe HSE) have a decent onboard compressor for the air-bag suspension ? Quote

It is to make an air battery, basically use the excess solar I generate to pump air into a large tank. Heat shouldn't be too much of an issue as I wouldnt think it would be fast. But a slow high pressure pump is key, I am just not sure what that is. 2 Quote

mjrstar Posted August 30, 2024 Posted August 30, 2024 This sounds like hydraulic pump territory, could you build an air over hydraulic accumilator? You can get those small electric hydraulic power packs for for tip trucks. https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/marketplace/business-farming-industry/industrial/manufacturing-metalwork/presses/listing/4882715028?gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjw28W2BhC7ARIsAPerrcIMiHNr_QSqPY1er47r1FndRmEZdvxdIDYAL9apDYEBo7Vi_T82ZTwaArwPEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds Quote

A strong possibility. 17 minutes ago, mjrstar said: This sounds like hydraulic pump territory, could you build an air over hydraulic accumilator? I have no idea how an air over hydraulic accumulator works.. Edit; on some cursory googling I am not sure that has the capacity I am after. The key is to have a lot of air at a lot of pressure so getting something like 600watts out of a generator for a day or so. I did a basic spreadsheet and its a lot of air. Quote

Mean, keen to see how you get on, my brain is poisoned with having worked with commercial high pressure systems and knowing how complicated they need to be. Quote
