johnnyfive
I think you're missing the obvious Barry answer of fitting your thermostat into the trash. 3
a.craw4d
Probably a stupid question but will it be ok if I try to recharge a fucked 10 year old motorbike battery? I don't want to buy a new one because it'll most likely be sitting around for 12 months while I sort out shit on the bike but I'd like to be able to take it for a spin sometimes. Cheers. tortron
It'll likely be dry Bang some battery rejuvenation liquid in there

Leaver the cap off and put a tea spoon of Epson salts in and top up with water if needed, if the plate dividers haven't broken down it might go
UTERUS
Also try banging another battery in parallel to get the charger to do its thing
RUNAMUCK
I did that once and a battery I had assumed was long dead came back.  Fake edit the other battery in parallel

RUNAMUCK
Does that blow the fuzz off the plates?
a.craw4d
Not keen on the welder idea. So like this, and should I leave the other battery on there or take it off after a couple of hours and continue to charge the little one?
RUNAMUCK
I used open.end spanners once to bridge the two.batteries.
a.craw4d
@RUNAMUCK you're like the "one time at band camp" girl. So do I leave the booster battery on there?
RUNAMUCK
Only long enough for the old battery to gain enough volts for he charger to.recognise it's a battery.  I am turning into lingor...... 1 1

In saying that I have a jdm battery that I can push start a car with after 12 months of sitting that had the Epson salt treatment.
a.craw4d
Just tried the battery and it has a very little bit of charge. Popped the cover off and it's completely dry so I'll give it a drink tomorrow and try again. Will now google Epson salt to see wtf it is, doubt I'll have any. Alfashark
Righto lads, what the preferred breed of sealant/snot for an inlet manifold -> spacer -> carb assembly?

Used my sheath knife once cos I had nothing else handy and blew a big gap out of the edge. Not thinking very hard that day.

Are paper gaskets alone providing an insufficient seal?
