ajg193
Pretty much, your kidneys just filter out the excess magnesium as the screw corrodes. Should theoretically make for nicer surgery and whatnot where you don't need to go back in a year or two later to have the annoying screws removed. One surgery and 16 weeks later you are as good as new.
Yowzer
I prefer my surgical screws to be nickel plated

Muncie
Had an interesting conversation with my spine surgeon around what the torque settings are for the hardware he fitted during my spinal fusion....... Said no one had ever asked, i asked again he kinda went pale and admitted they were "pretty tight" one more thing to worry about, he had me on 3 monthly xrays after one shifted during a big sneeze.

Seedy Al
Maybe @EURON8 made one a while ago? I have soda blasted before with a piece of tube and an air pistol. Worked well.

datlow
speaking of metal in bodys, my boy just got his taken out in august, the screws were far longer than i had envisaged asked the surgeon why they take the plate and screws out etc, he just said its better etc (no real firm reason) wifes been crook on and off this year with whack blood samples been to a few specialists, latest one reckons because she still has metal in her back (scoliosis rods) its not uncommon for the body to react to the metal after about 15yrs, theyve been in 20!

I've still got a rod in my leg. Doc told me that if there is high probability I would break the same leg again, it would be removed, otherwise they leave it in. Reasoning was that if the rod bends at the break, it makes it rather hard to get out. 1
kws
So my Mini failed its rego inspection on a rear brake imbalance, with the LH side only doing 10% of the work. obviously not good, and ill strip it down and see whats up, but what im stuck with, is without rollers, can anyone think of a simple way for someone at home to test for an imbalance? I'm guessing no, but it's going to be a pain to take it down to VTNZ again to see if it passes or not.

This is the constant pain with the Niva, I can get it pretty close by feel setting the brakes on stands at home, then heavy braking on a quiet road to be sure, often one side just needs a tad more to get it right and the wof guys seem to understand. It does suck though and is my main motivation to set up rear discs!
ajg193
Throw in some new shoes and cylinders, scuff the drums and set them up as you would any other drums. They should work fine then. You could always use a torque wrench to find the breakaway torque with a known load on the pedal? (but that would probably require making some sort of a jig up)
