MightyJoe
The triumph is a TC, always has been. It was owned by a lady who's brother is a mechanic and he maintained it for years. It's superb mechanically I haven't really touched it, minor parts here and there but she's been a great daily. Cheers for the positive comments on the colour scheme, gonna get some quotes to lay the paint soon. Get Christmas out the way first though. Yeah 34mm choke, f8 55 idle jets, but these are a bit too big. It had 45s on there which were too lean but the 55s are wound right in. How much difference can 0.1mm make? Quite a bit apparently. I'd recommend looking at maybe f8 50s. 130 main jets with f16 emulsion tubes.

Flauski
Cortina is my fav of the pair. Always had a bit of a soft spot for the MKII. Real nice.
flyingbrick
Crazy painter...the actual racecar IS pretty wide! Anyway, looks great! Definitely needs black pinstriping to separate the colors.
MightyJoe
Cortina is coming off the road for a new engine once the triumph is warranted again. rings are gone and the carb leaks. not ideal but the missus needs a daily. yeah it'll be getting a pinstripe. also got a visor to go on but it's not ready yet. it came out so much nicer than expected. he did a really nice job for not alot of cash. gave him free reign on the stripe, just a few pictures to go off and this is what he did. Once the bumpers are on and the lights and stuff all fitted it'll look totally different again i reckon, relaly looking forward to seeing it with a face. chuffed to pieces with it. needs to harden up for a few weeks whilst we're rebuilding it and he's gonna have it back for buffing. you'll not loose it in a carpark anyway haha
yoeddynz
Wow!!! That looks fantastic. Awesome choice of colour scheme. What wheels will you go for- I reckon the S mags would look good with those colours.
MightyJoe
Cheers. I think i;m going to go with some 15" minilite/superlite style rims. probably with anthricate spokes and a polished lip. i've seen a set of 15's on a mk2 and i like the fit. S mags are also an option still, depends on budget, but i don't know how easy it is to find 14" tyres with a decent sidewall profile. i don't want baloon tyres. sr2
Wow! Why does new parts/assembly time always make us grownups still feel like a kid at Xmas?
MightyJoe
Tell me about it. machined porn. ( not machine porn, thats another subject ) it was better than christmas too. sadly. haha. its all with the machine shop now, i was gonna build it up myself but tbh he has to install it to check tolerances etc so seems stupid to tear it all down again so hes going to give it back to me as a short block, and i'll fit and time the cam myself. he said he knows THE guy in chch for distributors too so thats sorted, hes going to re-bush it fit electronic ign and map the curve to match the cam. not sure what thats going to cost though so ill have to wait until i've go the block paid for. i cant have the block waiting to be collected and not the funds to pay for it
66gt
What cam are you after as I have a new A2 Burton one if you are interested?
MightyJoe
Yeah cool an A2 is the one i want. is it the kit with followers and springs or just cam? i only ask as i need the smaller (earlier) followers. the 711 block ones dont fit. i bet you already knew that though seeing as you've just built up a 1500! haha. just clicked. definitely interested though as i havent ordered one yet. pm me a price!
