Popular Post felixx
Hi there Those that did the Kaikoura run where biglouie blew his engine will remember the old gent who was talking about cooked mutton flaps in culverden.. Well a couple of months ago on an OS Meet we were parked in Halswell (4 Anglias and a couple of other cars) and this 86 year old gent pulled up and got yarning. Turned out he has an Anglia and lived around the corner. I went and had a look and it was all there, straight, a bit of cancer but OK He had plans to rebuild her from the ground up and time got away Anyway the story is awesome, His MUM brought the car new and shipped it from England when it was about 4 years old. (she got a cortina) He has owned it all that time (1970) and it has been parked up since 1992 Well a few Anglia Pilots, Big Louie, Sean (and his Missus Erin), Big Louie and myself went to visit him sunday Here is the car: We got it up on axle stands, checked the brakes and then tried to start it.. it started first goe.. video and stuff to come So the plan is to rebuild the brakes, get a wee bit of welding done, wash and polish her. Les has recovered the seats and is getting carpet If we can WOF her by Xmas Les will be a happy man.. He has Brand New Cross Ply tires on it (Dimples on them) Thankyou Tony Butler (Butler Auto Spares)for the mean as deal on the brake bits!

Popular Post kyteler
Sure, it seems awesome on the surface but they're all just trying to get under his skin so that when the old fellow runs out of time or can't drive anymore, they're on the list to inherit. Sly bastards.
Big Louie
Tell you what sunshine if you'd seen his face when that car started up it was just like he was a teenager with his first car. For some of us its about giving and seeing these old cars out there on the road and not about what we get out of it. You put your overalls on and come and spend a day giving the old guy a hand you might change your attitude. Obviously there are a few of us don't think like you do !!! I talked to Les after the rest of the guys and girls had left. He had given his all for his country as a Fighter Pilot on 5 Sqn during the war and had suffered enough hardships, its nice to feel that as a band of brothers who have a passion for something, we can also give a little to make some ones day a little better. I think the guys that were there on Sunday will look forward to seeing Les drive his car again. I know I certainly will. What Les does with his car is his business and I hope he will pass it on to his grand kids to look after and enjoy. I am really glad that I can help him achieve his dream which would not have been possible without the help of the guys/girls that gave their time and spare car parts to make Les's dream come true. Enough Said.
