It went from being a YB87, to a Y87, and now its a YN87. Woot and so on.

Vintage Grumble
ANOTHER EXCITING UPDATE ON THIS STUNNING SPORTS UTILITY! First of all, its too legit, too legit to quit! Also, went to the local wrecker and got some trinkets! It now features all of the advertised blower fan speeds! The wizards coils on the right were bung, so purchased the updated magic block on the left, and then made it fit with the help of my die grinder! (I spaced it back a bit after the pic to stop the fire wall sound deadening catching to fires) I also got some of the missing interior trims while I was at it!!!!!!! THEN!!!!, I put a central locking kit in it, and it even works! I was impressed with the Fezza, but the binary code just sealed the deal. BACK DOORS WERE A LITTLE TIGHT!!! I also fixed the water temp gauge, put a new thermostat and plugs in it, got the cold start to work, got it to idle at the correct RPM, fixed the hot/cold air selector thing, put some big ass speakers in the original dash holes (the left one is slightly in the glove box, lewlz) annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnd that's about it. I also shouted myself one of these for xmas, Now I can dial up some poosts/blow it up!!!!. I will slap the wide band in and have a nose, make sure its not leaning out under poosts, and also set the fuel pressure regulator, as it runs rich as Bill Gates down low/at idle. Popular Post Vintage Grumble
I discovered this thing doesn't enjoy injector cleaner for some reason. I also learnt the left rear brake needs adjusting/Diff needs shimming. Grow up VG.

Vintage Grumble
So, I put the poost controller on, it seems to be a very well made little unit, and it do what it do, so happy with that. The lowest I can go ATM is 12PSI, as that's what the waste gate spring is set to, so may replace that in the future so I can get the poost a bit lower. I also whipped the air flow meter guts out, and cleaned it, as they can cause trouble in these, but hasn't made any noticeable difference. SO clean now though. Also, I took the oxy sensor out as it's not being used, due to it being lungey. It was shorting out on the housing, and one of the wires is near on cut through. The bro-in-law popped over last night, and we put the wide band in. First thing we noticed is even though it sounds and smells rich as shit at idle, it was running lean (likely raw fuel going through unburnt). It was also slightly lean the whole way through the rev range. SOOOO we slapped a gauge on the fuel regulator (duct taped it to the out side of the windscreen, lols) and discovered it had basically no pressure at idle. We cranked the pressure up to around 40 PSI, and boom, idles way, waaaaaay better, is way smoother and drivable down low, and is not leaning out through the rev range. We can safely go up to 16-17ish PSI poosts without it leaning out, but the injectors get to 90% duty cycle, and then go no higher, so we decided not to take it over 15 PSI just to be safe. Not 100% sure why the injectors wont go higher? Maybe some sort of inbuilt safety thing in the ECU? But any ways, good to know its fairly safe at 15 PSI, and its bloody ripper that it idles and runs a shit ton better down low. NEAT. Ready for drag day, zeow! Vintage Grumble
^ I was a bit of a girl with the b-outs sorry. Did the near on 600km round trip to the drags and back sweet as, with a couple of bikes on the back even, hit the bumps less often then I thought it would, so that was nice. Did 10 runs at the drags, my first run was my best at 14.03 at 97 mph, even thought I sneaked the boost up through the day to 17psi, which was a bit naughty, but wanted to get into the 13's bad, lols. Air temperature and heat soak effect this a lot more then the corolla, that's fo sho. Also getting a turbo off the line properly is quite hard, it was either bog down or skid up, puhuhuhu. Had a shit ton of fun though. Here's a shitty vid of a few runs.

Vintage Grumble
So, you've been asking yourself, "I wonder how VG's hilux has been going over the past year?" Well, i'm glad you asked. Since I sorted the dodgy fuel pressure regulator, and removed the bugged oxy sensor, its been going really well. Some high and low lights are as follows: I went rally driving and the fan hit the shroud, but not the radiator. Still haven't fixed this. Then I got sick of it bottoming out all the time, so I got a set of standard rear springs, and new 50mm lowering blocks. This is the single best modification to date, its a bit stiff in the rear, but soooo much better in every other way. Then my front resonator got sqwished, I must have hung it under compression when I did it originally, so have put a new resonator in there and set it up proper like. When I got the new resonator, I also decided to upgrade the fuel pump, so got a 255L/H spec pump. I then extended the cradle to suit, as the new pumps sock was quite a bit different. The old sock was touching the bottom of the tank, so it was loud as shit, new pump has 5mm clearance, so is whisper quiet. Then I thought I may as well upgrade the injectors, so got a set of 550cc SARD items second hand from Japan. They seemed to be in good nick, and tested out OK, so I slapped new orings and seals on, and whacked them in. Then of course I had to sort the ECU to run the new injectors, so ordered a Nistune daughter board. I was going to fit it, but it worked out cheaper for CDM motorsport to get the board, fit it and dyno tune it, so that's what is happening on Monday/Tuesday. Also, HUGE thanks to Ben for borrowing this rig from work, and helping me deliver the hilux to Tauranga (seeing as my usual trailer was covered in boy scouts at the Christmas parade) So yeh, not really sure how much power yucklux will lay down, I was hoping for 300hp atws, but the factory air flow meter may hold it back a bit. Guess I will find out early next week. Hopefully it doesn't go bang, or boom, or knock knock dugga dugga dugga. Regards, VG.
