grunta
its waaay more fun making explosion powered launchers, not compressed air ones! Make 1 then!!!, and when you do post photos, then i can tell you how much better rocket powered projectiles are!
Steelies
yup the owners have 12v supply and compressor onboard. it's for fishing, not cannon fun. but you do have to wonder how long two middle aged fishermen will last until they're two giggling boys hiding from the beachfront local who's just acquired a broken window
grunta
this has now been used! the guy said he shot the first test at 110 psi and had a solid ice with flag frozen inside projectile and it went 20 m and exploded.so he dropped pressure to 60 psi and shot the next 1 over 120m!
Bangbug
120m is a great effort!!!! Back when I was exciting I used to make black powder by the kilo... pre-911 and use it to do similar things but with a rocket motor strapped to a 1.8m long dowel. The problem was keeping it going ballistic instead of straight up! It wasn't rocket science but... oh it sorta was.Sure would love to see a vid of it in action! Certainly looks beautiful!

Did he paddle out to point of splashdown with a tape measure?
thegreatestben
He could have just measured the line. My old combustion potato cannon maxed out about 120m also. We used google maps to approximate distance.

grunta
dam neither video worked! anyway with bait frozen into projectile there is no worries at 110psi, he fired 200m (the whole spool) ant the knot at the eng of the line was the only thing that stopped it going futher! he says he has a 300 m braded line to try next! workes well even caught a fish!
