yoeddynz
Cheers guys for offers of help- fuck I bloody well hope this up by xmas. We will know more by the weekend as to how we are going. So far we have this up- started late because plans and instructions are a bit shit so couldnt make out some critical bits. But got into it and was fun once we had two portals up and secure. Before that it was a bit oooohhhheeerrrr woooowaaayyyy wobble wobble ahhhh errr oo. Scissor lift machine is great but gotta be sensible with it! Man I cant wait till we get this up and clad
punkoutnz
Do those A frames have any chords on them? The shed we got at work didn't originally have them but when we were assembling it the gussets at the top wouldn't hold so ended up having to make some. Would probably be okay once the whole shed is together but we had two frames come down before we put lower chords in there.
Rookie
Oh man you are in for a treat, have the shed company on speed dial as none of the plans will make sense.

They would have been fitted from the beginning....... Had they been in the fucking delivery! Got heaps more done today.. luckily main frame is all up now just before wind picked up! Will take some pics. It looks so huge...... So many old cars.....
Popular Post yoeddynz
Yesterday Shane (siedways sickness) came out and helped us out. Compared to the last two day previous which had been a bit manic betwen dealing with the shitty shed company suppliers and dealing with bloody huge wobbly portals, Saturday was just so cruisy and relaxed. This is exactly the way we wanted it to be had the shed arrived on time. We could have just been so chilled and take time knowing we had two weeks. We WILL be fighting the shed company for compensation etc but that's another story. So Wedensday was wet but we assembled the portals. Then retreated to the cosyness of the warm dry truck and fluffy warm dry cat. Thursday and friday the portals went up. Wobbly and scary until braced but by friday late afternoon we had won that battle and just in time because by did the sea breeze pick up from down the valley and it would have been just downright dangerous to be lifting them. I was so relieved when we put the final sidewall girts in place and some X bracing. Saturday as said was a day of chill. Music on. Beers flowing. Sadly sun never came out to join in the party but at least it stayed dry. Hirepool have been so totally proffesional and had come out friday afternoon with a better newer scissor lift as the earlier one had annoying faults and kept needing re-setting. The new one is great. We now have the main skeleton all up and its feels really solid. It'll be even more so when clad. It feels so huge but for us having never had our own shed anything would feel huge. Today we will do the end framework and sort out the door jambs etc- sadly the shed company has fucked up again and bits are still missing plus the plans do not represent the kit we have been sent which could get messy when it comes to COC. Luckily we have 10k of their money as leverage! Hopefully will start cladding it on monday so long as the wind stays down. This is where we are at this morning.. From yesterday...

be4ver
Fuuuuuu... That's a huge shed. Shed of my dreams! I take it you guys will be collecting the rain water of the roof of it eventually? I imagine there will be a butt load of water collected by that roof!
yetchh
what are dimensions of the behemoth?
yoeddynz
Its only 7.65 wide by 14.5 long but its 4.5 high at the sides so we can do a mezzanine down one side, the side closest to the bush. Will add more windows later on but for now only two going in. Hang on..will find a pic...
yoeddynz
here... So the roller doors will be on the left looking from the truck and to the right inside there will be a full length mezzanine floor (with firemans pole!) Not a dwelling. No sir mr councillor.. Actually it wont be. Just a bathroom, living space, laundry, smoko room, sick bay with bed in case you get really ill working and need to rest...for the night.. did i mention the fireman pole? yeah i cant wait to deck this out!

Been looking at these ones which are copies of the Heshbon ones I know from old work, from what I can see... http://www.trademe.co.nz/business-farming-industry/industrial/hoists-jacks/auction-823764697.htm Missed out, should have bid on it.. on a tidy secondhand Heshbon one in chch that sold for 3k. Nice hoists.

yoeddynz
Yeah thats just like we have at work. Great lifts. Never had problems with them. Thats a good price micheal- especially as frieght wouldnt be too spendy. I was quoted yesterday about $300 to get a lift from dorkland down to nelson which is pretty fair for its size.
