Popular Post Beaver
Well well well. Not long after getting a wof as per previous post, I was an idiot and did a few too many grass skids on and something let go in the engine. Unfortunately this knock knock who's there wasn't a joke this time. So I did nothing for a few months pretending it would fix itself, which it didn't. Then eventually tracked down another rd28t engine pulled (a runner pulled to make way for an rb30det) so snapped that up. Since then have been slowly pulling the car apart ready to pull the engine out and drop the other one in.
Popular Post Beaver
Did a thing. Pulled the engine and gearbox out. Need to swap a few things over and then hopefully drop new motor on next weekend. Everything needs a bloody good clean as it's all yucky.
Popular Post Beaver
And big thanks to young @Geophy for his help. That engine crane won't hold itself up mate
Popular Post Beaver
Did a thing, it goes broom broom. Huge thanks to @GuyWithAviators and @Geophy. Still needs a fair bit of love but it runs and drives and makes all the right noises so that's progress
Beaver
So good news is that it starts and drives like a champ (and sounds amazing because exhaust isn't hooked up properly). Bad news is the injector pump has a big leak (although I have a recently rebuilt one which I'll swap over) and somehow the windscreen is cracked. Pretty bummed about that tbh, can't imagine they are easy to find. So I'll swap the pump over and finish putting the front of the car back together. Should also work on a couple things for cert that I've been meaning to do (drive shaft loops, yay).
Beaver
Oh hi. Swapped injector pump over with the 'good' one. Ran like a bag of dick's so assume it needs timing properly, or the pump is no longer healthy. It's been gathering dust and generally feeling sorry for itself ever since then. Went to get a new battery today but forgot shit is closed in Easter. Will probably just shut the shed for another 6 months 6
Beaver
No pics/lame progress update. Picked up a new battery as old one was chooched. Threw that in and started up like a champ. Still isn't quite happy and seems to intermittently drop a cylinder (i.e. exactly how it was when I left it, surprise surprise). I know this engine is OK(ish) so worth persisting. Pulled the trigger on some rebuilt injectors so will see if that helps. It makes choo choo noises again so I'm calling that progress. Popular Post Beaver
It's alive! Threw the rebuilt injectors in and seems happy as. Drove around the block and makes all the right noises and not too many of the bad ones. Next steps are to put the front back together so it looks like a car again and then start chipping away at the rest of the issues including but not limited to cracked windscreen, bald front tires, no cert, no wof, no reg. 24
Popular Post Beaver
Happy now @Nominal? Made it look like a car again and when for a drive to the servo to pump up the tires. Everything does what it's meant to other than the heater (as you can tell by the steamy windows) as I didn't plump it in when swapping the motor due to not having the right size hoses. So that's next on the list. Otherwise does what it says on the box and goes sssshhhhhrrrreweeoooooaassh when you give it the beans which is A++

Popular Post Beaver
And done Highly recommend Metal Polish Co in Hamilton for polishing, I was absolutely blown away by how they came out. Quick turn around and more than happy with the price ($80/wheel). Lastly need to secure some new metal valve stems and then throw the wallet at some tyres.
