feavermj
engine bay is now a lot tidier with, long custom alloy intake pipe with new filter, timing covers fitted, Gilmore drive fitted and general clean up. pics to be added soon. T- series diff is about to be shortened to fit rear end and handle the grunt better, also changing the stud pattern to 4x114mm. KE30 backing plates, hubs/rotors and callipers will be bolted in upfront to change stud pattern and also a small upgrade from 200mm rotors to 215mm - don't think ill notice the difference. but the T-series rear drums are pretty big. hope this doesn't get the rear pulling up to quick and locking up. unsure whether ill have to change master cylinder yet. Wheels are up for sale and hoping to get some 14" genuine jap wheels and less offset to give the car a lower look and some dish
feavermj
here are some updated pics of engine bay and new intake pipe etc. intake pipe seems to have increased power and makes a deep intake noise.....sounds real nice!
feavermj
here are some pics of a standard ke2# diff and the T series diff im going to be replacing it with the diff is out of an early corona that had leaf spring rear end. measures about 1370 long compared with the 1310 of the ke2# will be getting this shortened so I can get a better offset wheel inside the guards
Popular Post feavermj
Progress update on the ke25 Managed to find some new wheels that I liked. SSR XR4 Longchamps 2 x 14x7.0 + 1 2 x14x6.5 + 1 the current stud pattern was 4x110, so my mission was to convert the stud pattern to 4x114.3 to accommodate these new rims. I got Ke30 rear axles and drums and ke30 front hubs This is a realitively straight forward exercise with info availbile on the net but people do it different ways. My Diff is a U-Code. I should've searched for U-Code starlet rear axles and drums as these do not change the track width. The Ke30 ones add 10mm each side. Need to trim 5mm off each splined end of the Ke30 axles so they don't butt out. I did this with a beefy drop saw. once that is done I bolted them up using my original brake backing plates and brake assembly. The Ke30 drums are the same diameter as the KE25 ones but are a bit wider allowing that extra 10mm to be taken up. the front is a bit easier. KP starlet hubs would be the best option as they use all the same bearings and seal as the Ke25. With the ke30 Hub you need to use the ke2# bearings and also get a custom seal as neither the Ke20 or ke30 will work. I will post the seal size I used when I can remember. but other than that you can use all original brakes up front off the ke25. I got a non directional Maxxis tyre for the wheels 165/60R14 which achieves a nice stretch look without being too over the top. also allows for it to sneak up under the rear guards with that extra 10mm track width - JUST. I think it looks good, give me ya thoughts. thanks matt.
