xsinclairx
A couple of pics as she sits atm. Ive still got to hide all wiring, cover seat properly and mount tail light and front indicators. Have a set of Oury grips and bar end mirrors to go on. Benno
So close to being finished though man! Haven't considered just getting an auto sparky to finish it off for you? I doubt there would be more than a couple of hours labour. Probably easier to sell running and complete too?
xsinclairx
Yeh Ive thought about it but realistically I need something to do my license on too o cant justify spending the money.
xsinclairx
I chucked the old headlight back on, its huge but its tidier. Once I get the relay for the L.E.D indicators itl be sweet. Not much to do before i can go for a hoon. And It was only one melted wire so thats all fixed too

xsinclairx
Im soo torn with this bike, part of me wants to sell it and part of me wants to throw money at it. Theres alot of things i want to change and upgrade but unless I get another bike to do licence on theres no point
xsinclairx
Well I've decided I'll keep this bike. I'll most likely leave it on tm and if someone wants to pay my price so be it but I'm just going to do bits at a time and do it properly. Id rather keep it than sell it for less than it's worth haha. xsinclairx
Quick pic of my bike again, seats off and center stand back on... its soo much easier working on a bike with center stand. I have new indicators (not l.e.d) on the way and im going to mount the number plate and tail light either on a small rear fender or straight onto the frame like in the above pics. Also im going to buy an antigravity or similar battery to tuck under seat more, plus i hate lead acid batteries. Once I have the new bits and pieces and rebuild the brake master on the front it should be sweet for wof.
xsinclairx
Ive been doing little bits to this bike here and there but still no real interest in it haha. New indicators, tail light and tail light bracket... Chopped down the pods on the outer carbs to prevent frame rub. I just need to suss the battery and wiring situation, rebuild or replace the front brake master then go for a wof. xsinclairx
Welp I regret selling the 650 and seeing this thread has made me feel annoyed haha. Ill post a pic of how it looked when the guy who brought it finished it when I find one. I will now use this thread for my GS550M Katana instead of making a new thread. How it looked prior to tear down.. And how it looked in the for sale ad.. It cost me $200 It is now completely stripped and awaiting a frame blast and powder coat, I did want to tidy the engine up a bit but I might see if I can find another 550 engine to modify and leave the current one as is.
TimShadboltfan27
rad! this has given me substantial motivation for doing things to my 450e. pine so hard for a 4cyl, but the twins sounds so rad. keen to hear what its like with a straight through 2 into 1. /ling, look forward to seeing your progress mang
xsinclairx
Found a video of my old one! https://youtu.be/dtGRbndRfqw
xsinclairx
I finally strained myself and lifted the engine from the floor to the bench! Replaced the sump as the plug threads were stripped. Not too bad for such an old engine!
xsinclairx
Stripped the frame down completely and some other bits for sandblasting. Hopefully getting it done soon. Not sure what to do about the id tags on the bike... cover or remove for blasting? Not looking forward to putting this all back together because I don't have a garage.
tortron
Putting it back together will be fine, because it will be fresh and clean so you can do it on the carpet

xsinclairx
The manual says if the distance between 21 pins exceeds 128.9mm it means a replacement chain... I guess I'm splitting cases.
