64valiant
so been a while.....i went to os nats track day.had heaps of fun but on my 1st outing i had my tyre go flat :/but i put more air in it and away it went so i done more of thisand some of thisafter doing that i then re packed the valiant with all my camping gearĀ looked kinda like this when we left my shopwent threw to thames and brought a air bed and while leaving thames i spotted a few cars on the side off the roadscreamed at them. HEY ARE YOU GOING TO OS NATS. reply was yup do you know how to get there. reply was YUP FOLLOW ME!!!!so i got haunted all the way to nats camp site thinking i was on top gear episode followed by thisproceeded to put my tent up in the rainnext day drove to the coro and had a feed. valiants been going strong now.got told from the guys following me the day before i was loosing a bitta gas out the filler....got to dirt tracks i was loosing HEAPS out the fillerput a rag down the tube hoping it would kinda stop gas coming out.... (kinda worked)once everyone had left i done a skidgot back just in time for some grub after thislast day kinda bummed around took hundreds of photos and then headed home via the gravel road with chris r, shakatom and threeonthetreestopped in at thames so neal could buy some louvers. turns out they had these cool things as wellmake sure you read bottom lineat this stage chris r had just brought a wagon and we were off to the tron to pick it up/look at it.Ā so i took another photoall went well and made it home safe no major brakes or mishaps.a week later and i thought i better check why there was water under my car.....Ā looks like i have a leak....found it was at the bottom of the over flow so with the pressure building up in the radiator it was letting it out but not into my over flow bottle.so knowing that i kinda just went meh :/ and proceeded not to worry about it.mates asked me to help them out and use the valiant for a wedding car so done that. (cleaned all the mud of it) Ā btw that chev is 500hp and he has owned it for 40 years. paid 800 dollars for itbut back to the valiant beach hop was now near. thought i better fix a few things....went and brought some rubber. and visited simon jaskon to cut me a hole in it (i was running really late and didnt want to go back to my work shop)with this now on i pulled the rag outall the gas has also taken all my paint off :/Ā after doing this i shot over to matamata to drop a job off and thought id try fix my radiator as well.so stopped in at my mates shop and i had a head pop over the fench saying "your off os right?" turned out this guy is Bigmatt4. he asked what i was doing and then ran around for 2 mins and then appeared with a blow torch and some soldering stuff.we ended up re soldering the over flow part back in and then he was on his way again.LEGEND DUDE I OW YOU A BEERwith that done headed to beach hop where i had a good time and got really wet. (no i didnt go for a swim)also flushed the radiator with some flush stuff. man that crap is amazing i should have done it ages ago.today i went to vw nats in the valiant (cause the lemon doesnt go)Ā and this happened.yea screw you too tyre! same tyre that went town at hampton downs and my spear tyre is bigger than my others so i carefully drove down the road to a little pub where i asked a elderly couple in there buss if they had a jack i could borrow so i could put my spare on the front.back on the road again. (thank you aucklanders in your buss)got to taupo and 1st stop was carters tyre shop. where i went it and asked if i could borrow there tyre machine and there little tyre valve screw driver. the dude was allll G about it, said he liked my gangster ride. top dude fully recommend the place.all i did was remove the little screw in valve and put a new one in as the air was coming direct out of the valve. ( dont ask me why it just was :/ )um so yea changed that spare over and what not and went to turangi dropped some wheel bearings off, went back had a look at some vws at taupo, went to the race track see how miniman went with his racing and had a rum with markku. Ā and the valiant is all locked up in the work shop with air in its tyre. Ā

64valiant
sooooooo long time no touch cause of a crappy beetle but time has come.i have acquired two spare gearboxes that i need to pick up when the guy gets home from his holiday. he has also asked if he could use it for his daughters wedding along side his valiant. here is a pic of when i meet him at beach hop last yearso the roof also needs some attention. so i started with removing windows and then while i was there i removed the headlining cause i may as well make that look pretty while im there and after this the windows should not have to come out again.also braved up at removing the side molding trims on the guttering so i can clean down behind them as well.here are some picturesĀ il get some sanding disk tomorrow and steel my mates sand blaster and get all crazy about it all.lets hope this pull apart doesnt end up like the last one haha
64valiant
my other half was in dorkland and picked up the gearboxes for meso il inspect them/look at them and decide which one to put in.Ā will more or less work like eeny, meeny, miny, moe and bam done that one is going in.my mate brought his car to get seats done and we got talking. he has a big variable speed grinderĀ so tick got that just gotta get me some disksĀ also another mate was like oooooo this will be perfect for what you need for your guttersĀ so now i need some garnet/sand stuff and shit we are going to have our selfs a stripping party.but i need to colour match the paint before i get two excited or shit i may have some ugly ass white on my roof.or i could ditch the husslers find me some 13 inch wire wheels and paint my roof like thisĀ hahahahaha maybe on my wagon
64valiant
hahaha so i chucked the windows back in for a mate of 10/5 and just pulled them back out again tonight.Ā the gearbox is now really bad and clutch has a rather bad shutter as well.so il send an old clutch away tomorrow to be rebuilt all new again.pulled the top off the gear boxes to see what the look like on the insidecame across this.Ā WTF they are different what the actual!!!so a post on a ap5/5/vc face book page later turns out they will both fit in. one has a reverse under the last gear (left hand side gearbox) and the right hand one also has synchros. cheers crazy ozzy guysthat problem sorted i hit the roof with a grinder until noise control set in (my mum telling me to shut up)started out side like thisand ended up like thiswill continue to strip the roof tomorrow and drop it off at the painters late tomorrow.hes going to do his majic over the weekend so i get it back like wednesday so i can chuck headlining, windows and a gearbox as well as a clutch in and then clean it ready for a wedding on fridayĀ haha nothing like dead line.

Popular Post 64valiant
Well well well. This car just keeps on going. I got it a wof for national's.Ā Proceded to stop 100 times on our trip down. Thanks to Brent for keeping count. Done a crap load of miles. Did some big mph 6 up and just didnt stop. People votedĀ this bad boyĀ best sedan. Sure is a great sedan. Everyone should have one. Ā Ā Oh yeah I got clusters last stand from getting stung in the ball sack. (Well close enough) loosing a rubber bug for my roof rack and braking a strap. And I'm sure there was something else added to that list. But nats pretty much rulled. Looked something like this. Ā Ā @ArchetypeĀ driving in these two photos. Ā Ā Hold up he is driving in threeĀ Ā Ā Ā Me been the best drift taxi that was availableĀ Ā Ā Peach teats calves love them. And today the missus car decided to brake after been fixed. So I went to brents borrowed the trailer off brent and grabbed the old girl to do the job while i was at his. been in storage since os nats and still covered in crap from then.Ā Ā Ā Fucken sketchy going down my drive way. Had Cody in my old lady's honda behind me in case it got away on me. I ended up turning the car off and using the gears off as engine braking, as it doesnt really work when you can do 50kph in 1st gear.Ā the front wheels where skidding everywhere. Will not trade again.Ā Ā Got the job done. Also booked in to get roof fixed and below the back window painted in September. Gotta clean it up a little for the wedding and sick of not having a headlining in it. Might even put some carpet in it i think.
Popular Post 64valiant
So a few years back you would remember me stripping the roof to fix the rust and paint it so she looks all fresh.Ā Well while I done that I ripped the headlining out as I would put a new one in it.Ā Ā Few days later the windows went back in and its done two or three weddings since. No headlining and looking a tad rough....Ā Ā So while on my stag do last Saturday I was a tad drunk and everyone was around so whop whop out comes the front and rear windows. @EvanĀ was rather shocked our how easy they came out. Ā Fast forward to today realising I had booked the car to get the windows installed tomorrow.Ā Ā Goes something like this.Ā Ā Ā Ā Bare roof. No underlay or sound deadeningĀ Ā Ā Chucked some underfelt up on the roof. Makes it less tinny and no droning noises.Ā Ā Ā Chuck the headlining in after a small battle.Ā Ā Ā Waved my magic wond and *Boom* headlining done....Ā Ā Slightly fucked up the hole for the light location but yeah I fixed that so no need to tell more....Ā Ā Ā And this is where I am now.Ā Ā And now the windows get installed in 8 hours.Ā Ā I brought some brake lines for the front and need to get some oil and a filter give it a bit of a birthday.Ā
64valiant
More last minute wedding prep stuff.Ā Put the stainless trim back on with out wrecking it. I had pulled this off when I painted the roof also. Just never got around to putting it back on what not. Lazy or didn't want to wreck it but done it in like 5 mins including taking photos.Ā Ā Ā Ā Shit was all twisted from been removed and I really didn't want to wreck it putting it back on that's for sure.Ā Picture of it off and just white.Ā Ā Ā Picture with it on and small dog for scale....Ā Ā Ā Now to get the sun visors done so I have some thing for the ribbon to attach to.Ā
64valiant
Ah I done some sun visors yesterday. But didn't get a chance to post them. They did look like this.Ā Ā Ā And with the new headlining material they looked like ass.Ā Ā Ā Ā A lot better. Now to do this wedding thing.Ā

Popular Post 64valiant
Hahaha so since last event of wedding skids.Ā Ā We did this.Ā Ā Ā Which the end result was a really slow trip to whangamata for beach hop..... A whiny diff that left all its oil on the trailer.Ā Ā So luckily i had the owners brother tow that beetle back and we towed my beetle back with the Subaru. Old mate of mine drove the sedan back by himself said it was rather whiny but he just turned the stereo up and she was all tumeke.Ā Ā Was tempted to do a swap and drive the chch nats but gave up and broke the falcon down there anyway.Ā Ā From there i dragged it out and cleaned it for funeral still leaving it with a whiny diff and back to the shed it went.Ā Ā Till today. Kegans sister is getting married and he asked if they could use the valiant to which i responded, yup but you have to fix the diff over shits still whiny as a mofo.Ā Ā Eneded up tripping over one upstairs at work i forgot about yesterday and today we swapped it out. Wasnt that bad two people on board.Ā Ā Ā Our slide hammer to getting this axle out.Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā And all back in.Ā Ā Oh the other diff did have axles in iy but when i was younger dad swapped tge stud pattern so yeah had to swap these ones out as stud pattern not the same.Ā Ā Now i have some break lines somewhere here ill put the front ones in and bleed the hole system up on Wednesday. Should hopefully be ready for another wedding in no time.Ā
Popular Post 64valiant
Hi team. Long time no posting,Ā since my kombi wasn't really going to be going for summer i thought i would get this on the road. well i had thought about it and then a mate asked to use it for his daughters school ball so i ended up splashing out and spending some money on it and getting a wof. the wof failĀ list was - speedo not accurate - rear door latch missing bolt - fuel leak in tank - Brake light switch to secure - high beam light in dash not working - front seat LR to short - brake shoes worn out - brake hoses toast - rear bump stop missing - frontĀ bump stop worn out - RHĀ outer tie rod end worn - Pitman arm jointĀ loose - LF wheel bearing toast - idler arm bush worn - carburetor missing bolt his one recommendation was to raise it LOL and here i was wanting to lower the rear a sly 20mm with the deadline of this week i said to go ahead and just do it all him self. 3 days later now and i have thisĀ Ā There are a few things i actually want to do but with the kombi been on the hoist and been away for the weekend made it so much easier. after destroying my last set of tyres at the wedding i had been offered the ones that are now on it for a cheap price and they are 245 60 14 just a bit wider than the last 225 60 14 so thats the reason for the rubbing in the rear. will fix that with some smaller tyres and maybe lower it another 20mm in the rear talk about why i should use it more often and that your glad i got it going here Ā Ā
