Valiant
I think the Snow flake ones are BSA too, I'm not sure, It has possibly worn a few out over the last 80 years. Not everything on it is BSA, only the frame lugs by the looks.
Lord Gruntfuttock
Yeah just looked and that pattern is BSA. Interesting...
Popular Post Valiant
Put it back together today, really pleased with how it looks. I've taken a set of BSA pedals (which look shit in photos but are awesome IRL), and a better seat out of my hoard, beyond that it's just been decluttered.

63Ragtop
As always indeed. Still blown away over the 29inch panther you built, but this old school race bike is very cool, does it have any brakes?
Valiant
Thanks. No it has a fixed hub, that's enough. although it won't be a rider with the frame like it is.
bikechops
SO I made THIS halfbike. It rides well. Here is my son riding it. I also built a swing bike, but I do not have a video of it. And here is a tall bike one of my students built

We've probably met at an Evolocity event.
bikechops
Yep, but we were in the 3+ wheeled category. I can see our orange tent there. Came 2nd or 3rd in everything behind that blasted St Johns "The Trike"! Flippin' brilliant that trike was. This year was our first year in Evolocity and we got people to bring a load of old bikes in. Lots of kids in other year groups then started chopping up bikes and building weird and cool stuff - fishing trailers for bikes, petrol powered BMXs, swing bikes, drift trikes. We are getting a container for bikes and gear this year!

Getting the hang of getting parts cheaper than Les, so if you're after anything let me know and I can share the links with you.
Popular Post Valiant
Time to make this into more than a wall hanger. Condensed. Further condensed. I found some secrets from the past. One of the lugs has been cracked in a couple of places. It pre dates the crash as both cracks have braze in them. I've ground the cracks out but I cant decide whether to tig weld them now or to leave them as is and fill them with braze when the tubes get brazed in. Anyway I have this .8mm wall chromoly tube from another project I decided not to continue with. So with a rebuilt frame, wheels, and all the old components cleaned up it should work out nicely,
Popular Post Valiant
Rush of enthusiasm this week. Lots of cleaning, dismantling rims, Started cutting and notching tubes with my lathe tube notching attachment. Works really well. Laid everything out to get an idea of how it'll look. I'm very pleased. This weekends job is to rehabilitate the seat post lug.

Popular Post Valiant
Today a bike was born/reborn. And mocked up. There is lots of clean up to do which Iwill start on tomorrow. Exciting times.
Popular Post Valiant
So I skipped a few picture updates. After lots of cleaning, grinding, filing, and making up a seat stay I tripped this off at the paint shop for sand blasting and a coat of black. I picked it up today, really pleased with it. They used chassis black paint which looks spot on in my opinion. Not to bright not too dull. I got the rims done at the same time so next thing to do is rebuild the wheels. 11
yoeddynz
I looks sweet Pete. Really tidy. However.... I think it might roll a bit better with round wheels. But the oldschool wood rims do look funky.

Popular Post Valiant
Wow! So much old bike pine this weekend. Where to start? Here's a teaser pic of my current project completed and photographed in the lounge after a quick test ride up the road. It looks great and rides even better. I'll get some better photos with my good camera tomorrow if the weather holds. I also picked up more frame projects in need of rescuing. I'll add pics of them too.
Popular Post Valiant
Impromptu days off work. Great opportunity to take some photos. Where It started. Finished. The decals came from the VCC swap meet. They were originally made for the old Kings Cycles on Barbados Street Christchurch. In the weekend I picked up this BSA Fittings, track frame. Its very small, and has a badly bent frame (Which I roughly straightened so I could take some pictures) On the plus side it has all the really nice BSA pieces. Narrow bottom bracket. BSA forward sloping lugs with some nice cut details. BSA drop outs with adjuster holes filled. Narrow crown BSA forks. And best of all BSA track bridge. I'm really excited about this one and looking forward to getting started. 10
