Threeonthetree
Ultimately the final decision is yours. But I'd leave the black plates on there. Every time.
beachlander
Black plates for sure
Spencer
You wont be able to put the black plates back on. The rule that lets you put them on is for re-registering the car and states they must be the last plates used on the vehicle. I wouldn't ever remove black plates from a car, they are special magical things.
thegreatestben
My old man purchased the old plates as p plates so he has a set of white ones and a set of black.

Mattt
I'd replace the points and condensor, check for vacuum leaks and make sure the pcv valve isn't blocked. Also check that the plugs and leads are sweet. It's had a recon on the carby so it shouldn't be an issue. Also check the condition of the earth to the engine. They can cause mega issues if they're toast.
