You wont be able to put the black plates back on. The rule that lets you put them on is for re-registering the car and states they must be the last plates used on the vehicle.

 

I wouldn't ever remove black plates from a car, they are special magical things.

I'd replace the points and condensor, check for vacuum leaks and make sure the pcv valve isn't blocked. Also check that the plugs and leads are sweet. It's had a recon on the carby so it shouldn't be an issue. Also check the condition of the earth to the engine. They can cause mega issues if they're toast.

It looks like your crossmember is narrower than mine,also mine doesn't have the holes in it so could be different

i have a ms112 front swaybar on the way as they sit down lower,so should clear the pulley better

im running a rear sump with OS member MATTTS notched oil pan
