Guest Hachi-ichi
e Another test fit. Ha very little room between guard and trye on the rear. May have to crank the damping to prevent to much bounce/travel onto the tyre. And here is the tyre just fitting.
Guest Hachi-ichi
So it seems these will prevent me getting a cert. solutions/ remedies anyone? ( I have some extra factory struts and hubs if that helps )
Guest Bwarp
what will prevent getting cert? that there's no bolts holding them on? or the welding round the bottom of it?
Guest beachlander
The welding
Guest Beaver
yeh there was a big yarn in the cert thread about using weld on coil overs. Pretty sure you have to leave original strut material (like 50mm or something) rather then welding to the cast part which is what has been done in your case. could be wrong
Guest Hachi-ichi
well I have a spare set of hubs so im set there. Just more effort getiing coilovers legal that are already in the car. ha
Guest Beaver
whatever you do, talk to the certifier so you do it right from the start

Guest ryanfels
Where are you getting the wheel nuts from?
Guest Hachi-ichi
Ewan.
Guest ryanfels
Oh ok, how much were they delivered and how long did it take for them to arrive? (assuming they didnt come in the container)
Guest Hachi-ichi
57 bucs for the set, $5.70 for commision, and another 10-20 for local postage and fees, and probably another 50 + for shipping before they get here. So id be looking at 100 + when they arrive. which is equal to a set from davie holdens part division who would take 3 weeks to get a similar set from Aus. Guest J-Calico
Hadn't checked this build for ages, its coming along swell now! Come down to Palmerston and finish mine for me ahaha Shit about the struts/cert, not looking forward to this debacle at all.. Smaller tires on the Mk-I's and it'll look/fit sweet, as long as you're not requiring the tire to be legal AND look good? Try 195/50 R15's, I like 195/45's though!
Guest Hachi-ichi
well I can get 195/45s legal no problem. Thing is that it makes the arch gap worse requiring more low to compensate. in theory fine. but at 120 mil ground clearance, my exhaust is all over the tarmac everywhere i go. So once i drop another 25 + mil to compensate for the 195s arch gap loss just to get back to 120 mil, that will essentially murder the zorst ha. Id like to 195 45 all over but the way I have the exhausts at the moment... may require some pulling up/ relocating.
Guest Hachi-ichi
got the coilovers back in the rear. It rides higher and feels MILES better. Fuck cutties and fuck rooted factory shocks. Coilovers ftw right up until my wof. Up next... patient wait for these wheel nuts then SSRs on. Oni enjoying 80s velour.
Guest Hachi-ichi
So beautiful it was meant to be! Iron oxide + 80s Toyotas. Had a go at filing the worst of it out. So really it isn't that bad, and it is in an expected place. I will get it cut out properly soon enough.
