Logo
So I have moved over to Western Australia and became dulled with not finishing my halfballed attempt at the mini. So I found I have an uncle and aunty here and he owns and runs the local workshop. Also found out about a sweet little gem sitting in a paddock so I thought id have a squizz. Waited for a day where it was pissing down with rain so I didnt have to work. Here is what i came up with. Also dont mind the poo images or if it doesnt work... Using a galaxy tablet and new s3... Got to love the wages over here! This better work.. Freakin crap touch screens. Ill try get more uploaded. Week after I saw it and the... Damage yet to be seen and fixed with an unlikely tool... Aka the back of a log splitter. I bought it, trailered it to where I am at the moment gave it a clean and had a fiddle. Got to love fiddling with new bits or fiddling in general. Cleaned the large amount of cockroaches, snails and spiders out of it and fixed some of the problems and also spying some more... But as I said stick with it ill have some mlre pics thrown up, some details and also the list of faults ive found already.... Keep tuned! Logo
Ok so I have sometime to try get these images thrown onto here and post an update worth talking about. So here first of all are the pics of it when i first saw it then later trailered so it can start its journey to being taken apart slowly and painfully. Ass shot since people generally like them. Pretty much the major damage that i saw, someone over extended the crap out of the door... Later gets fixed forgot if i have any pictures or not... But skillfully bashing it with a piece of wood and the back of a log splitter It moved into place so the door could actually close. Also saved the glass aswell! Inside was somewhat grot before i fully took the cover off and shooed most of the residents living inside From what i heard it was explained to me as a 2.0L pinto but soon as i opened it and spied no cam on top. Thought about it for a week and at 800 bucks i thought it was a steal. That reminds me i still actually need to pay the guy. No ownership papers cause this baby isnt licenced! Sorry if the images are large the site doesnt seem to like letting me upload multiple images or even the option to scale them at all. Ill throw up some more soon of it being hauled away, me ripping the scummy seat covers off, soaking wet sound deadening mat and finding The patches or rust and breaking parts of it as i cleaned it. Wasnt allowed at the house looking dirty and especially that its a ford living at a holden house hold I needed to do some begging. Soon to be hauled or actually driven down to the workshop where it shall commence!
Logo
So finally have power and phone coverage back after the weekend and some of the week trying not to be hit by flying trees and whatnot due to the cyclones. So here is a chunk of an update or really what ive done that I could since its been pissing down and blowing a gale. And yes that is the seatbelt tied to the door so it kept shut and didnt let all the delicious filth inside blow out After a bit of a clean, ended up cutting off all the seatcovers even tho ill need new ones due to the licencing over here... No rips or tears in seats Insides in average condition, need new recovered front seats preferrably black... Dash is rather sun damaged Roof has some large tears and some muppstain averagely tried to patch them, carpets in decent nick but will renew And the back seat is rather mint apart from a slight seam tear and burn spot Gave it a quick spruce and wipe inside, decent no rust but spied some leak in the rear window at the top only small Then the amazing mechanically knowledged fix by my uncle to temporarily bend out the door with a random piece of wood and back of a log splitter came to this! Also closes now and doesnt let any water in even tho it has no window seals on the door Thats all for now will update a bit later on tonight with the list of fixes and rust spots! And an ass shot or two, dont get excited it isnt mine So really only got the door working to some degree, pulled at bits and broke a hunk off the water pump so that needs replacing and wrote a list of crap to do... Also scrapped of large amounts of superglue to where the rearview mirror had been and surf stickers placed on the back to be replaced with an oldschool one just to piss some aussies off Toodles
Logo
Well here are the points of interest, First off rust areas that i would have been pleased with not existing Bit that i forgot to take a picture of is the firewall seal its a bit iffy and bits seem to have rusted off A pillar And since its been more hectic than putting deepheat on a ballbag my carpet has been soaked So i ripped up tne majority of it all including all the deadening which was pretty bad and found only one small hole in the drivers floor Next water was going in through the bootlock hole and wet everything in there but there wasnt any water in there.. Untill i found this sitting under the spare wheel Not sure if you can spy the holes in the boot floor near the plugs in this... But they are there sadly, also could do with a spruce Roofs a we bit stained and torn, pretty much halfjob patch it for now and do a better job than the previous attempt Then just splurge for a new one or try my hand making one First time starting it ran fine even with stale fuel bit of an exhaust gasket leak but it came with a full gasket set, but fiddled around see if anything was corroded around piping and snap... Waterpump decided it wouldnt have a bit of it. Picking up a replacement today. Also kept finding these mainly crushed under the battery, photo just cause Things that ill have to fix for it to be road legal that i have found. Couple new tyres Reattach rearview mirror Suss all the faulty connections on lights Rust spots, probably see how i got with a bit of fibreglass filler and grinding Brakes need a bit of a look see Find a thermostat for it since it apparently needs one... No tears in any of the seats, fixed by throwing a towel over it.... Win Exhaust gasket Bout all i can think of at the moment. Also trying to find the bit of paper i wrote it down on i somehow made the drivers door lock somewhat...stop working. List of some things to do as secondary fixes Repaint & deaden the interior of the car Weather strips for the windows so water doesnt just sit in my door Perhaps a couple new seatbelts Paint some areas make it more two tone than like six... And rust counts as a colour right? Tidy up some wiring Replace oil and filter since its blaaaaccckkk Flush and acid was the radiator Suss the dizzy out gaps etc same with leads and plugs Get the battery charged or replace and move to the boot Pretty much just fix missing bits and tidy stuff up for now After all that jazz throw some new carpet in, roof lining, door panels etc Make it looks a bit respectable as every holden lover around here tells me Its not enough i get it for being a kiwi but for owning a ford... Ill do some work on it once the weather fines up and im not working 6am-9.30pm.... Hopefully next post has a lot more work done and actually something productive rather than cleaning grime and peeling stickers off Chur
Logo
Well pictureless update cause ive been working 5.30am-10.30pm past few day...got some of the next three days off Picked my waterpump up... And whats this.... Costed 97.15 annddddd it was missing the actual piece that broke off that i needed.... So more Money to be spent. Battery finally decided to hold some charge so will see if i can go for a pootle down to the workshop where ill pretty much rip bits off and slap new bits on Some news on it.... Apparently impossible for people to find me parts even door window seals which would be handy as my door is half full of water.... Also broke the drivers door lock somewhat so hopefully i can get back in It for now will hopefully get some dirty, greasy and shiney pictures of her. As I found out you find the gender of your car when you get angry at it and call it names Churs
Logo
Well I went and sussed some paints and sandpapers out along with some hosing. 150 later and i got a nice wee pile of stuff to use.... To bad its forcast to be raining for the rest of the week... What else have i done... Oh fitted the new waterpump and had a fiddle with it hose didnt fit... But then saw the poo 30+year old clip and replaced it now it holds jt properly on tnere but might get a hose slimmer just to make it a bit easier Oooo shineyyy Nice and snug... To bad the rest of the engine bay is covered in dirt etc Who doesnt like a bootfull of spares? Also got another wheel and the base of a back seat...in rough condition Thought id try this fibreglass bog putty stuff instead of welding in some metal seems to be ok on the nonstructual stuff Heres my poo first coat attempt on it coveres the small holes nicely bit of a hassle on decent sized holes tho have to put something down to have it sit across otherwise do small bits at a time, dunno if using something like a bit of pinned down gladwrap will screw it up in anyway. Will get sanded off when its hardened. Also anyone know what kind of wheels these are I know they are cheviot ones but I cant seem to find them anywhere If anyone has a spare one in a 13 id be more than happy to purchase it as i only need one to complete my set... Anywho have it a halfdone wipe down might need to take them in get resurfaced a little come up looking good hopefully even more so with my brakes painted instead of rusty... And bald flat tyres All for now hopefully take the tank out, sand the boot down and clean it up for a good spray. Same with the car floor strip it out on the next sunny day wirebrush the crap out of it. In other news duct taped my ripped roof lining... Its looking somehow now more hobo then it did before Any info on the wheels throw it into the discussion be awesome. Cheers
Logo
Starting to dismantle the dash try get this heater running.... First mistake.... Upside down under dash and spiders fall on your face... took the centre consol out kinda looks semi better with a lot more room! Probably go back in once i suss out new carpets etc etc Back window still leaking maybe worse than before, will have to go buy some sealer to fil the gaps in the rubber for now or just redo the entire rubbers on it as the front has a small leak aswell Been posting up for those wheels on various sites.... No one seems to know the name... So thats cool... Also since there is no pictures yet this will have to suffice nothing like a cheeky wink at around 56seconds
Logo
Well havent been doing much... Did get some of the heater out then realised if i keep going the plastic vents will probably crumble So i semi put it back in left the centre console out looks a lot better and like fifty time more space. So first off heres a photo of my hose. One that fits and had the right length happens to be an old holden commo one Also a bit lengthier piece incase i well... Screw up. Had to fit a new bit onto the waterpump which was bigger so i had to take it off again to fit the new one on... Which ended up me Seeing lots of blood smeared everywhere. Turns out fingers bleed a hell of a lot. Probing around after i nad the grille off looks like either someone has tried to fix some crash damage with a poo fix or they havent at all Also heres a dog who likes to sit right behind you so you trip every single time. Also heard snoring and went to investigate hes sprawled across the two front seats just making himself at home. So ended up masking the grille up to paint it, didnt have any silver on me and couldnt be bothered walking back into town i thought id do the black first... Thinking about it now... Just made doing that a hell of a lot harder for myself. Thinking of doing silver rings around the lights but not sure yet. Thoughts? To be honest... Doesnt really seem like much changed... With the silver hopefully look better. Also the centre clips were chrome some stage... Silver paint them for now chromedip them later when i get enough stuff to be worth getting heaps done at one time. Apart from painting, bleeding, hosing and pretty much sneezing, couging and snivelling not much has been done... Still waiting for my battery to take it down so it can be stripped apart properly and maybe a decent job of painting it etc Probably repaint the silver bits tomorrow if its fine or cut the hose to proper length and fit that up. Hopefully the heater core doesnt leak! Sussing carpets, head lining, door cards etc so maybe will look a bit better anywho. Also find new front seats or get them redone with matching door cards but in black. Cheers big ears
Logo
Well it has been awhile since ive posted some updates done a bit... Or nas felt like i have done a bit... Bought some new fittings for the waterpump sorted the hose out cut to length found out the heatercore has a bit of a leak in it so ill braise that up hopefully no more leaks in it otherwise it will be sent to a radiator plus to actually get some love and attention. Fibreglassed some of te flooring up where there has been rust holes, cut my thumb amazingly good on the air filter.... Chicks dig scars right? Tried to scrape all the old deadening and floor scum off didnt want to budge so i sprayed it with some decent paint stripper and then used a gasket scraper to do my floor.... Thats right.... The entire floor. Only up to the rear seat at the moment. also found an amazingly hectic piece of rust which will suck a lot of nads to try fix without taking the engine or dash off. Started painting the floor etc bit sticky still as my jeans found out.... Couple more coats then onto fixing maybe three to four leaks mostly the rear quarter windows so ill get around to finding maybe a new front window if its not to bad. Things ive bought include pretty much a whole new set of capets hence the leak fixing.... Since its like a lake in there at the moment with this rain. New sparkpluggies just to get rid of all the stale fuel that pretty much has gone past its use by date by a fair whack. Once all the painting of the interior is done and ive fixed the firewall cavity and leaks are done ill get around to tuning cleaning sussing any problems with the engine, brakes, suspension and bushings and also four not so good tyres.... Then just cosmetic crap to make her look pretty again Here are some pics enjoy! Actually just the stuff i scraped from the drivers floorpan... Bags rather big at the moment All the photos i have at the moment will do te rest of thw floor and boot with rust and deadening then suss these leaks hopefully Then get my carpet soon, hopefully heater done. All the interior needs is doorcards roof lining and some recond seats and shes done and dusted for now. Next is all the terrible paint bubbles that plauge the most common areas then start it up run it down to the workshop do the electrics and undercarridge. Thats all folks For now

Logo
So it's been an extremely long time since I've updated this or been on since my computer kept deciding to break itself all the time losing every picture and record of the car, I ended up selling this one but not before buying another 1976 Ford Escort mk 4 door but auto which has two owners, once I get around to sorting out a new thread and learning to do everything on here again I'll make a new thread and build, Looking at changing the original 1600 kent into a sr20det or if anyone has any new ideas or better styled engines to fit etc or any tips on what I would need to upgrade aswell to fit the new engine would be handy, pretty sure the build discussion is still open for this not sure BUT I'M BACK!
