hachirokuGTV
Farrrk, that isn't even a tape deck! You don't hear that very often.
0R10N
Farrrk, that isn't even a tape deck! Yup, crazy shit huh! I considered getting a tuner deck for the hell of it, but virtually all of the devices that connect via AUX have built in tuners these days anyway. Plus it would take up valuable space that could be better utilized by a graphic EQ or amp.
0R10N
Not sure if I mentioned it earlier in the thread, but most of the older Pioneer graphic EQs such as the CD-5 have the capability of allowing a tuner or tape deck to run dual amps front and rear. I didn't really want to pay $100 for this Guess it can be my spare. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=620530580

0R10N
Yeah Wow X66 II from 87-88? perfect era for my car then haha. Im going to be on the lookout now for a KEX Centrate. This page has a nice pictorial guide to all the different components, should help you with your search. The owner occasionally sells equipment to other collectors but Yahoo is still probably the easiest and cheapest place to source them from. http://retro-caraudio.servehttp.com/guide2/Pictures3.htm Check out the KEX and KPX series tuner and cassette decks in the middle and towards the bottom of the page. Also, earlier I mentioned the "HFW" series of speaker and how they were square in design... here's what they look like:
Hachi-ichi
So I found ONE auction that resembles what I am looking for! over 600 for a KPX-999 and CD-2, the CD player doesn't work though and condition is average overall. http://www.mbok.jp/item/item_399270061.html?_SRC=li2_i0 Also here is that exact unit working http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ekRnOyGC7Oc
0R10N
That CDX-2 is rare as hell, as are most of the first generation Centrate CD headunits. Pity about the price! It could have been worth buying and sending to Axent for refurbishing otherwise.
Hachi-ichi
The price he wants for it is the only thing stopping me, this is almost the price of an LSD for my car haha, but yes it's extremely sought after and I hate that I continuously consider buying it. 0R10N
This sold recently, was it to anyone from here? http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=638200312
0R10N
I'm really starting to dislike this kr2000 fellow and his constant steamrolling of all the vintage Pioneer auctions that pop up. http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/car-stereos/other/auction-640168116.htm Fortunately the dollar is starting to pick up against the yen so I may start buying stuff from Japan again. You can't get NZ tuners from over there though
Ned
sell one of your radios on trademe, make sure kr2000 buys it and then when he gives you the shipping info, hire a hit man to take him out?
Hachi-ichi
whenever the yen goes above 80 to the dollar, it's a good sign. After looking into recommended prices, I found out that 50,000 JPY for a KPX-999 and a CDX-2 is actually fair even with the CD player not working...
